The draw is out for the first Slam of the season!

The men’s and women’s qualifying draws are coming to an end as we write this piece. The draw will be fully completed by tonight, including all qualifiers and lucky losers.

News Insights

  • Aussie No.1 De Minaur handed a first-round match against Milos Raonic
  • Lots of Aussie wildcards into both draws
  • Top seed, Iga Swiatek, given tricky first round against Sofia Kenin
  • Crowd favourite, Thanasi Kokkinakis plays Sebastien Ofner in the first round

Plenty to dissect in both the draws, which feature plenty of Australian talent via wildcards and qualifying places. Large expectation lies on Alex De Minaur to make the Aussies proud. However, plenty of other talent such as Thanasi Kokkinakis leaves fans waiting to see if we can see his best tennis. Over to the women’s draw, Daria Saville has been handed a wildcard and she will not fail to fight for every last point against Magdalena Frech.

Men’s Draw

Alexei Popyrin, who has shown his erratic side in recent times, will face Marc Polmans in an all-Aussie clash. The winner will face Djokovic or Prizmic. De Minaur will have to overcome the big-serving Canadian, Milos Raonic, if he wishes to start his campaign with a win. Thanasi Kokkinakis faces Sebastien Ofner in the first round, and likely the in-form Grigor Dimitrov in the second round if they manage to make it through. That will almost be in pen for the Rod Laver Arena!

Women’ Draw

Taylah Preston, who looks to have great potential, has been matched up against Elina Svitolina - who is shooting up the rankings after having her baby. Elsewhere, Iga Swiatek has been drawn against Sofia Kenin (an ex-champion at Melbourne) in what should be a very competitive match, a little more than Iga would have wished for! Emma Raducanu is back in Grand Slam action, American Shelby Rogers awaits her in the first round.

Round-Up

Plenty of matches will be packed into the first few days of the competition. The weather looks hopeful over the weekend which should ensure us the bumper schedule that we have been promised! We will be releasing regular multibet articles throughout the duration of the tournament, including an early look at the opening prices for the first round!
