BlueBet is a relatively new bookmaker with a focus on the Aussie punter and their interests. The company got its betting license back in 2015, and since then has developed a loyal legion of fans who recognise their array of great features, including good odds, a quality mobile app and much more! In this detailed review, I will delve into some of the things that make BlueBet worth checking out, as well as some of the areas in which they could improve. Stay tuned to find out more!

BlueBet Strengths and Weaknesses

Like all bookmakers, BlueBet has strengths in certain areas, but scope to improve in others. Let’s take a look at what I believe to be some of the most notable strengths and weaknesses of this Aussie bookie!

✔️BlueBet Strengths

  • Competitive odds: One of the first things that many punters look for in a betting site is, unsurprisingly, the odds. Across the board, I have found that BlueBet tends to be very competitive in this area, providing their customers with decent odds on their wide range of sport and racing markets!
  • Easy-to-use app: Mobile apps are an increasingly popular way to bet, so it’s important for bookies to have one that functions well and makes it easy to bet on the go. BlueBet does exactly this. Their app, available for iOS and Android devices, enables you to quickly and easily access BlueBet’s markets and place bets without having to open up your computer for any reason!
  • Availability: Customer support is something which can vary hugely between bookmakers, with some offering the bare minimum and others providing a comprehensive service. I believe BlueBet falls into the latter category. You are able to get into contact with them via phone, email, fax, or most easily live chat, which is available every hour of every day of the week!

❌BlueBet Weaknesses

  • Slow to update markets: There are times when I’ve experienced a delay in getting access to the latest betting markets and odds, especially in comparison with other sites. But rather than seeing it as a drawback, I've found that these moments allow me to conduct more in-depth research and analysis before making my bets.
  • No live betting: Live betting is a growing space, with many punters enjoying the ability to see how an event is playing out in the early stages before deciding on a bet. Unfortunately, BlueBet doesn’t have any live betting available across their platform, so if you’re using them you’ll have to settle for pre-event punting.
  • No live streaming of sports events: This might not be a dealbreaker for you, but the growing presence of sports streaming on many bookmakers means many punters now expect to be able to watch certain games on a betting site. BlueBet has recently acquired rights to Sky Racing so you can watch this if logged in, but for the time being they don’t have any sports events available for streaming.

📋Conclusion

As with all bookies, BlueBet’s strengths and weaknesses means that they are likely to appeal to certain punters more than others. If you like quality odds and the ability to get in touch with a bookmaker easily, the strengths listed above will no doubt appeal to you! In contrast, however, if you tend to focus on live betting or want to watch sports events on a betting site, well then, the weaknesses listed might indeed be dealbreakers for you.

BlueBet Overall Score

Betting Variety: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The range of options to bet on for both sports and racing is very good with BlueBet but lacking a few of the smaller markets.

Banking Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
No major issues here – there could certainly be more payment options but, in my view, there is enough for most people.

Mobile Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The mobile app for BlueBet is a very good one – better than the website – and makes it easy to bet, contact customer support and do a whole lot more!

Payout Speed: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Again, no issues here! I have found payouts generally arrive in your account very quickly.

Security: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As good as with any other, reliable bookie! BlueBet uses a 2048-bit encryption and is commissioned by the Northern Territory Racing Commission.

Betting Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Generally, I have found the betting experience here to be a very good one! The only issue I would mention here is the website and how it occasionally plays up.

Customer Support: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A great offering here! Users can contact the support team via live chat, phone, email and even fax or post, 24/7, and once connected with an agent, I have found them to be very helpful and friendly in terms of assisting customers with their queries.

BlueBet Review

Since obtaining their betting license in 2015, BlueBet has developed into a trusted bookmaker for many Aussie punters out there. And while they might not boast the status of the biggest betting sites in the country, particularly the internationally-owned ones, regular users of the site know that they have plenty to offer!

Let’s start with what many view as the most important consideration when looking at a betting site; the odds themselves. While BlueBet might not be able to compete with the bookies that have the lowest margins in the industry, they do nonetheless offer very competitive odds across both sports and racing!

In terms of  racing, I believe BlueBet has a fairly standard array of offerings. You’ll find win/place markets for all Aussie and international races, while you can also bet on exotics such as quinellas, trifectas and quadrellas. BlueBet’s competitive odds also extend to a wide range of sports. I have found that the bookie does a good job of ensuring that fans of all major sports, along with plenty of the lesser-known and followed ones, have more than enough markets to play with!

One area of their overall offering in which they could improve, however, is through the presence of live betting. This has developed into a pretty popular way to bet, but at this point in time BlueBet doesn’t offer live markets. If you don’t bet live this obviously won’t be an issue, but with many punters enjoying this option, I think that its absence with BlueBet could very well be a turn off for some punters out there!

For the markets that they do have, however, placing a bet is, for the most part, made pretty easy with BlueBet. Your options are to use either their desktop site or mobile app, the latter of which I have found to be very well-constructed, and makes it easy to bet and navigate through the platform while you’re on the go!

The desktop site is aesthetically pleasing and generally easy to navigate through. However, I will say that I have personally found it can be prone to a few errors at times, most notably with the left-hand menu moving into the middle of the page, subsequently blocking many markets and links from sight. This is certainly something that BlueBet would want to ensure doesn’t happen often, if ever, but despite this, the site and particularly mobile app are pretty easy to use in my experience.

In terms of payment options, I believe BlueBet sits around the middle of the pack. They don’t have an enormous selection of deposit and withdrawal options but there are certainly enough to satisfy most customers, and the options that they do provide are those that are generally among the most popular – things like debit card and PayPal.

Finally, let’s talk about customer service! BlueBet positions themselves as an Aussie-owned bookmaker with a particular focus on the punters, and I have found that they deliver on this through their customer support offering. It’s a comprehensive platform which includes live chat, a phone number and an email, and when you get into contact with them, they are generally very helpful in my experience. Pivotally, the live chat function is also available 24/7 – you probably won’t be needing it at 3am in the morning, but this does demonstrate a commitment to the needs of their customers that many other bookies, with only limited customer service hours, don’t show.

So, what would I say about this bookie overall? Well, BlueBet isn’t and might never be as big as many other bookmakers across Australia, but this doesn’t change the fact that they certainly do plenty right! They offer solid odds, a good range of markets and great customer support, and while there are some areas for improvement – as there are with every bookie – this is nonetheless a betting site that has plenty of ticks in their favour!

Frequently Asked Questions About BlueBet

Below, I have answered some of the most common questions that people ask about BlueBet:

❔Can anyone join BlueBet?

Not quite. To join BlueBet, you need to be located in Australia and over the age of 18 – if you fulfill these two criterions, well then you’re good to go!

❔Can I access BlueBet from overseas?

Nope. If you want to bet with BlueBet you’ll need to be on Aussie shores.

❔How many different sports can you bet on with BlueBet?

At the time of writing, there were 22 different sports available to bet on with BlueBet, as well as, of course, all the racing markets. This is, however, prone to variance, with some sports not currently listed, and only popping up when major events are happening, whereas others often drop off when the opposite is the case.

❔Are same game multis available with BlueBet?

Yep, they sure are! Same game multis aren’t available with every sport or game, but for the major ones you’ll be able to combine various markets within the one game to make a multi bet.

❔How do I sign up to BlueBet?

Signing up with BlueBet is easy! Simply head to the website, click the ‘Join’ button in the top right-hand corner and fill in your details. This onboarding process should only take a minute or two to complete.

📱 BlueBet Mobile and App

It’s virtually a necessity for bookmakers to have a mobile app these days, or at the very least a responsive mobile site which punters can use if they don’t wish to open up their computer. With so many bookies offering a really high-quality mobile experience nowadays, it has become almost an expectation among punters that they’ll be able to bet quickly and easily from their mobile! As a result, bookmakers need to adapt to this changing need or they’ll be left behind, and BlueBet has certainly done this.

This Aussie bookie has created a mobile app which is available for download on all iOS and Android devices, and I have found it to be among the better apps in the industry. It’s very responsive and easy to use, and as well as this, it doesn’t lack anything that you can find on the actual desktop site. In fact, given that the desktop site can at times be prone to a couple of issues, I would say this makes their mobile app look even better!

The app layout is very intuitive, following largely the same layout as the website but adapted to fit on your mobile phone screen. You can easily toggle between sports and racing markets, and find your way to the specific event that you wish to look at the odds for without too much trouble.

I have found that placing a bet is also easy! As you would on the website, all you need to do is click on the market that interests you and it will pop up in a betslip. From there, as long as you’re logged in and have a funded account – you can place the bet in no time!

Importantly, it’s easy to do more than just place bets on the mobile app. One feature of BlueBet is their quality customer support, with the live chat available 24/7, and this can also be reached pretty easily on the mobile app.

Another feature of this bookie is that customers can tune into Racing.com events, and this is no different on the mobile app. This means that you can tune into live racing on your phone, and catch the action while you’re on the go!

Overall, I think the BlueBet app is a really good one! BlueBet have clearly made getting the most out of their app a focus. It’s quick and easy to download as well as use, and makes it as straightforward as possible to bet on the go with BlueBet.

🏇BlueBet Racing

The racing component of BlueBet’s website is fairly standard in comparison to other bookmakers. I have found the layout to be very simple, and this makes it easy to find the markets you’re after, and as well as this, all the things that you would expect to be able to bet on are also readily available.

To access the racing part of the site, you have a couple of options. The home page will have a couple of upcoming races listed which you can click immediately into, or alternatively, you can click on the ‘Racing’ drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the page. This will then give you a list which includes various types of racing.

Click on the desired racing mode that you wish to look at the markets for, and after this you’ll be taken to a page which lists each and every race set to take place that day. If you want to look at future markets, you can also toggle at the top of the page to upcoming days’ races, or major future races.

BLUEBET-HORSE-RACING.webp

The time until jump for each race on the page you’re on is listed, so you can keep an eye on how long you have left to place your bet. To take a look at the available markets for a given race, simply click on the box which pertains to that race and you’ll be taken through to the race page, which lists all the available markets for that race.

The page you’ll immediately be taken to will have the fixed and tote win and place markets for each horse, as well as a brief race overview and the ability to look at fluctuations along with speed maps. The odds available here are generally quite competitive in my opinion; not the best in the industry, but far from the worst as well! Up the top of the page, you can toggle through to exotic markets including ‘Quinella’, ‘Exacta’, ‘Trifecta’ and more, while Same Race Multis can also be found up the top.

Just above these tabs is a list of all the other races at the meet that you’re looking at, while above this is the name of the track. A handy feature here, which I have found to only be available with some bookies, is the ability to click on the track name and get a drop-down menu with all other tracks hosting meets that day. This makes it easy for punters to jump through to a different meeting and is definitely a tick in BlueBet’s favour!

Overall, I believe the racing component of BlueBet is a good one! I have found that it is easy to find what you need, the odds are competitive and all the races you’ll need are readily available, on a consistent basis.

BlueBet Sports Coverage

As I have mentioned a little earlier in the review, BlueBet offers a solid selection of different sports to punt on. They do, of course, have markets for all of the major sports and leagues like the AFL, NRL, NBA and so on, but there’s also a good range of less common events to bet on, including martial arts, darts, and even entertainment or politics! So, let’s take a look below at how BlueBet cover some of the more popular events that you’re likely to be betting on:

BlueBet Australian Rules Football🏉

Unsurprisingly, and as is the case with most Aussie bookmakers, Aussie rules footy and in particular the AFL, are front and centre of BlueBet’s sports offerings! They have markets on each and every game throughout the course of the season, and provide a good selection of different markets on those games, from head-to-head and line bets through to player props. You can also put same game multis on for AFL matches, while future punters are well-catered for with a range of different long-term options, such as Brownlow Medallist, Coleman Medallist and of course Premiership winner.

BlueBet Rugby League🏉

As the primary football code in the north-eastern states, rugby league attracts plenty of interest from punters as well, and BlueBet has subsequently got plenty of markets for the sport available to bet on. Predominantly these are NRL-related, with heaps of different markets for each and every match and, like with the AFL, same game multis are an option here! There are also markets for international rugby league games, and come State of Origin time each year you can find a massive range of markets to bet on for that too.

BlueBet Basketball🏀

Basketball is continually growing in popularity across Australia, and the presence of numerous quality Aussie players in the NBA, along with the rapid development of the NBL in Australia, are certainly having a major impact on this.

As a result, I have found that BlueBet has quite a strong focus on this sport, something which is supported by their range of markets across the sport, as well as the ability to place same game multis on the sport! Unsurprisingly this is only the case for the NBA, but you can also find markets on different leagues from around the world, including the EuroLeague, and of course, the NBL.

BlueBet Tennis🎾

Tennis is somewhat unique in that there is a tournament to bet on virtually every week, so there’s no shortage of tennis markets to find on BlueBet! During smaller tournaments, you’ll predominantly find just head-to-head markets and a few set scores, but come Grand Slam time, I have found that there’s a whole lot more on offer! For each match of a major tournament you can bet on the head-to-head, final set score, total games and much more, so, in this regard, I think it’s fair to say that tennis fans are well looked after during these periods!

BlueBet Sponsorship Deals 🏆

At the time of writing, BlueBet has the naming rights to the stadium at which the Penrith Panthers of the NRL play; aptly named BlueBet Stadium. They also sponsor the newest NRL team - the Redcliffe Dolphins. They’re also the approved betting provider for Football Australia, Cricket Australia, PGA Tour Australasia, and the NRL

BlueBet Best Features

There’s plenty to like about BlueBet, but in order to attract customers, bookies need a point of difference to separate themselves from the huge numbers of competitors they have. So, with this in mind – here are some of the best features that BlueBet offers:

Same Race/Game Multi

BlueBet enables you to make a multi for an individual event, meaning that you can combine potential outcomes in one race or one sporting event. In racing, this might include picking three horses to finish in the top four, for example, while for sports it can be a much wider array of things; a bet, for example, on a football game which includes the total points over, a certain team to win, and a certain player to kick a couple of goals.

Same game multis are available with a fair few bookies, but not everywhere, while same race multis are even more rare, so I think with this in mind, it is definitely a strong feature of BlueBet!

Bluebet-Multies.webp

BlueBet Blog

The BlueBet blog is a fairly comprehensive one, providing previews of upcoming events for a number of sports. The leagues for which you can read previews include the AFL, NRL, NBA, NFL among a few others which pop up when their seasons are in full swing, while you can also read racing previews and tips.

I think that this is a nice addition to the BlueBet experience, and it is something that is only available with a handful of competitors. While I would say that it’s not necessarily ideal to use as your only source of information, it can nevertheless be interesting and insightful to read the views presented on the blog!

Bluebet-blog.webp

Live Streaming of Racing

In the past BlueBet didn’t offer live streaming of anything, but they now have the rights to everything shown on Racing.com. This isn’t as comprehensive a channel as some other bookmakers offer – Sky Racing shows Australian and international races, for example, while Racing.com is only for Victorian races. However, that still includes at least one meet most days of the week, and the ability to live stream these events directly on the website is a feature that not every bookmaker has.

BlueBet Betting Markets & Types of Bets Available

So, now that you know what some of the sports are that you can bet on, let’s gain a little more insight regarding the actual types of bets that you can place on these sports! For the most part these are in line with other bookmakers, though there can be a little bit of variance from one betting site to the next.

BlueBet Betting Markets

  • Head-to-head
  • Line bets
  • Total points over/under
  • Quarter/half-time bets
  • Player props
  • Same game multis (with select leagues)

BlueBet Types of Bets Available

  • Single bets
  • Multi bets (both same game/race, and between different events)
  • System bets (doubles, trebles etc.)

💳 BlueBet Banking

So, you’ve decided you like what you’re hearing about BlueBet! Their odds sound good, the app sounds good, they’ve got a good customer support platform. I guess the next step is to understand how you can fund your account, and to do so you’ll need to be able to use one of the payment options that are offered with BlueBet.

Every bookie has a different range of banking options available. Some will only offer a fairly limited selection, sticking to the basics like debit card and bank transfer, while others will have a plethora of options, many of which you’ve probably never even heard of!

The first and likely most common way for people to deposit with BlueBet is by using their debit card. This is a simple option which requires you to first verify your card, after which you can freely use it to fund your betting account. And by using this method, your deposits will be instantaneous.

Another great part of the deposit methods at Bluey includes Apple Pay and Google Pay. These are instant payment methods for both iOS (Apple Pay) and Android (Google Pay) mobile phones. I find it’s easy to use on their mobile app and I’ve had no issues. Keep in mind, Apple Pay is only for Apple devices and Google Pay can only be used on supported Android systems and sometimes desktop computers as well.

The other options that you have for making a deposit with BlueBet are BPAY, Bank EFT, PayID and PayPal. Each of these has their pros and their cons, and which one of these is best suited to you will likely depend predominantly on whether you already have them set up or not.

It’s worth noting that of these aforementioned options,PayPal will see funds deposited instantly, and has a minimum deposit of $10 – as does debit card. Using BPAY, you’ll have to wait up to 2-3 days for your funds to arrive, while Bank EFT generally takes a day to clear.

For withdrawals, you only have two options – Bank EFT and PayPal. Neither of these is an instant method of withdrawal – withdrawals rarely are – and will likely take at least a day or two to arrive in either your bank account or your PayPal account. It’s also worth noting that the minimum withdrawal when using PayPal is $10.

Overall, I feel as though the selection of payment methods provided by BlueBet is very fairly reasonable. There’s a good variety of instant payment options and the mobile app includes plenty of banking options too. Another nice addition is the ability to withdraw via PayPal, which I’ve found is very rare in Australia. So I think punters won’t have any issues adding money to their account or receiving hard earned funds into an Aussie bank account.

Is BlueBet Legal in Australia?

Yep, BlueBet is absolutely legal in Australia! It’s governed by the Northern Territory Racing Commission – as many bookmakers in Australia are – while for South Australian residents it’s governed by the South Australian Gambling Codes of Practice. It’s also worth noting that they utilise a 2048-bit encryption on their platform, meaning that you can be confident that not only is BlueBet a legitimate and legal site, but it’s also a secure place to deposit your money!

💬 BlueBet Customer Support

If you begin to use BlueBet with any sort of consistency, invariably you’ll need to get into contact with them at some stage. This could be for a multitude of reasons, but regardless of what it is, ideally, you’ll hope that you reach an agent who can help relatively easily, and quickly!

There are a handful of contact methods for betting sites which you’ll come across fairly regularly, but while some only offer one or two options and for a limited amount of time during the week, others provide a more comprehensive spread. BlueBet is well and truly in the latter category, and in my opinion, this is one of the best features of their platform!

In my experience, the best way to get in contact with a bookie is through live chat, however, this is something that is not available with every bookmaker. Fortunately, BlueBet has it front and centre of their customer support platform. And what’s more, it’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, something that only a select few competitors offer.

If you don’t wish to use live chat, another simple way to have a problem solved with BlueBet is via phone support. BlueBet phone support can be reached via their 1800 797 644 contact number, and in my experience, their agents are friendly and quite helpful in terms of resolving any problems or answering any questions.

The third option you have for reaching out to BlueBet is an email address. Most bookmakers have these and they can often be a little redundant if there is a live chat as they essentially provide the same service but take longer to get a response, though they do have their place for some problems. If you have a particularly detailed issue, for example, it can sometimes be easier to send a longer email rather than converse directly with someone on live chat. You will, however, need to wait a day or two for a response.

These three options are the three which you’ll likely be using if you need to get in contact with BlueBet. But as well as this, they do also provide a fax number and PO box, however, these would likely only be relevant if you need to send physical documentation or something similar, rather than having a question answered.

So, overall I would say that the customer support platform which BlueBet offers is a really good one! There are a comprehensive range of ways to get in touch with them, live chat is available all day, every day, and the people with whom you converse when looking for help are generally very helpful. I believe that is one of the better components of the BlueBet experience, and one of the better customer support platforms across the industry!

BlueBet How to

In this section, I will provide you with a step-by-step breakdown of how to undertake certain important processes on the BlueBet platform.

🔎How to open an account with BlueBet

Opening an account with BlueBet is super easy, and can be completed within a minute or two by following these steps.

  • Head to www.bluebet.com.au
  • Click the ‘Sign Up’ button in the top right-hand corner of the page.
  • First, you’ll be prompted to fill in some basic information about yourself, such as your name and email address.
  • On the next screen, you’ll need to fill in more information, this time about your date of birth, gender, mobile phone number and address, before creating a username and password for your account.
  • Once you’ve done that, click Create Account and you’re ready to go!
  • To complete your account preparation, you’ll also need to verify your details and a payment method.
  • Click the ‘Sign Up’

🔎How to place a bet with BlueBet

Now that you’ve created your account, you’re ready to place a bet! This process is generally fairly uniform across different bookmakers, and BlueBet is no different. Follow these steps to get punting.

  • First, you’ll need to locate the event on which you wish to bet. Events can be found fairly simply – drop-down menus on the left-hand side of the home page reveal all the different kinds of racing and sport, so select the one you’re looking to bet on.
  • Once you select a sport or type of racing, you’ll be greeted with a list of all the different upcoming events in that field. Click the event you’re interested in.
  • Upon doing this, you’ll be taken to an event page with all of the markets for that game or race.
  • Click on the odds for the market on which you wish to bet. For example, if you’re betting on Richmond to beat Collingwood, click on the odds next to Richmond.
  • This bet will then be placed in your ‘Betslip’.
  • When in your betslip, click on the ‘Stake’ box on the right-hand side of the page and enter the amount you wish to bet.
  • Once you do this, a ‘Place Bet’ banner will appear – click on this and your bet will be placed!

🔎How to deposit and withdraw with BlueBet

If you want to fund your account – or, in an ideal world, take out some winnings! – the process is fairly straightforward. All you need to do is follow these simple steps.

  • The easiest way to get started is to click on the big ‘Deposit’ button in the top right-hand corner of your home page – do this whether you’re looking to deposit or withdraw.
  • You’ll then be taken to a page which will enable you to deposit using your debit card. If this is your preferred deposit method, simply enter the amount you wish to deposit, click ‘Next’ and then confirm your deposit.
  • If you wish to use an alternate payment method, select from the tabs higher up on the page which include BPAY, POLi, Bank EFT and PayPal, then follow the prompts.
  • If you wish to withdraw, click on the ‘Withdrawal’ tab at the top of the page. This will take you to a Bank EFT withdrawal page – either follow the prompts here, or click on the ‘PayPal’ tab if that’s your preferred withdrawal method.
