Manchester United vs. Fulham
Old Trafford, 5:00 AM, Saturday, August 17
The 2024/25 Premier League season starts at Old Trafford. Manchester United will be looking to set things right after finishing eighth last season, which was their worst ever Premier League season.
Fulham, meanwhile, have their eyes on a spot in the top half this season after surprisingly finishing 13th last year. One of the Cottagers’ most shocking results from last season was their 2-1 win at Old Trafford in February.
Man United are healthier now than in February, so I’m expecting them to get the win, but Fulham will make it difficult. We expect Onana to be under fire for much of this match.
Predicted Lineups
Man Utd: Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Pereira; Traore, Smith-Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
Ipswich Town vs. Liverpool
Portman Road, 9:30 PM, Saturday, August 17
Ipswich Town are back in the Premier League after a 22-year absence from the top flight of English soccer. The league schedule makers have not been kind to the Tractor Boys on their return. Liverpool, even without Jurgen Klopp, are about as tough of a test as you can get.
I’m not going to complicate things here with my Ipswich Town vs. Liverpool predictions. The Reds will win this match by at least two goals.
A lot of other soccer betting experts say that Ipswich are good money to score. While the Tractor Boys do have the home advantage, I’m not as optimistic about them scoring. BTTS - NO is another good bet here.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Both Teams To Score - NO | $2.12
Liverpool -1 | $2.00 | |
Half Time/Full Time - Liverpool/Liverpool | $1.99 |
Predicted Lineups
Ipswich: Muric; Johnson, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Taylor, Morsy; Burns, Chaplin, Hutchinson; Delap
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Elliott; Sala, Jota, Diaz
Arsenal vs. Wolves
Emirates Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 18
Will this be the year Arsenal win the Premier League? That’s the question everyone’s asking going into the 2024/25 season. It’s obviously too early to say, but a win against Wolves will put the Gunners on the right track to winning the league in May. Getting this win should be easy for Arteta’s side.
Arsenal have won six straight matches against Wolves. Gary O’Neil’s team has scored just once against the Gunners in their last four matches. Wolves were also significantly worse on the road last season than at home.
If Wolves score a goal here, I’ll be stunned. My predictions for this match is a 2-0 win for Arsenal.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Winning Margin - Arsenal by Exactly 2 Goals | $3.70
Anytime Goalscorer - Saka | $2.20
Both Teams To Score - NO | $1.70 |
Predicted Lineups
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Partey, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Trossard
Wolves: Sa; Mosquera, Dawson, Toti; Doherty, Gomes, Lemina, Traore, Ait Nouri; Hwang, Strand Larsen
Newcastle vs. Southampton
St. James' Park, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 18
Newcastle has had a relatively dull offseason compared to the other ‘big clubs’ in the Premier League. Dull is exactly what we expect from this match.
The Magpies have won each of their last eight matches at home against Southampton. Maybe it’s the long journey up from the South Coast or the rabid St James’ Park crowd. Whatever the reason, Southampton just cannot win against Newcastle on the road.
Saints manager Russell Martin had his side playing beautiful possession soccer last season. As we saw with Burnley though, it’s very hard to make the transition to the Premier League playing that way.
Newcastle should win this match. Their backline is pretty beaten up right now though, so we also like Southampton to score.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
UNDER 3.5 Goals | $1.75 | |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.65
Correct Score - Newcastle 2-1 | $8.40 |
Predicted Lineups
Newcastle: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
Southampton: McCarthy; Harwood-Bellis, Stephens, Bednarek; Sugawara, Smallbone, Downes, Aribo, Walker-Peters; Armstrong, Brereton-Diaz
Nottingham Forest vs. Bournemouth
The City Ground, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 18
Bournemouth were one of the surprise packages of the Premier League last season. They’ll be looking to build on that strong campaign this season. Forest, meanwhile, survived by the skin of their teeth last season, finishing 17th.
Despite their poor finish last year compared to the Cherries, We actually think Nottingham Forest might make things difficult for Bournemouth.
Both teams have scored in each of the last four matches between these sides. Two of those fixtures finished 3-2 to Bournemouth.
We back the Cherries to get the win on Sunday, but it will be a very up and down match where both teams should score.
Predicted Lineups
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Aina; Sangare, Danilo; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Christie, Scott; Semenyo, Tavernier, Sinisterra; Jebbison
Everton vs. Brighton
Goodison Park, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 18
Brighton’s new 31-year-old manager Fabian Hürzeler is in for a real test against Sean Dyche’s Everton in Matchweek 1. The Seagulls have yet to beat the Toffees since Dyche took over in January 2023. Both matches between the two last season finished 1-1.
With the sale of Amadou Onana, this years’ Everton is weaker than last years’, but we still back them to give Brighton a proper challenge at home.
As boring as it is to say, my Everton vs. Brighton prediction is another 1-1 draw. The betting sites are split on who will win this, so you can get good value for Draw No Bet on either team.
Predicted Lineups
Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, O’Brien, Mykolenko; Lindstrom, Iroegbunam, Doucoure, Gueye, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin
Brighton: Steele; Veltman, Dunk, van Hecke, Barco; Wieffer, Milner; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck
West Ham vs. Aston Villa
London Stadium, 2:30 AM, Sunday, August 18
West Ham and Aston Villa have surprisingly been two of the Premier League’s biggest spenders this closed season.
With so much spent on players, both clubs come into the season with huge expectations. It’s too early to say whether they will deliver. What we can say is that this match will be one of the best of EPL Matchweek 1.
Julen Lopetegui’s new West Ham side could be one of the most improved sides in the Premier League. Aston Villa’s last win at West Ham was in 2011. We think the Hammers win here and put on a show doing it.
Predicted Lineups
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Kilman, Zouma, Emerson; Ward-Prowse, Alvarez, Paqueta; Bown, Antonio, Kudus
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen; Tielemans, Rogers, Onana; Bailey, McGinn; Watkins
Brentford vs. Crystal Palace
Gtech Community Stadium,11:00 PM, Sunday, August 18
Brentford versus Crystal Palace on Sunday gets the honour of being the first London Derby of the 2024/25 season.
Palace ended last season as one of the best teams in the league. It will be interesting to see how they look after losing Michael Olise. The Eagles will also be without star striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Bees are in a similar period of transition right now after narrowly keeping their Premier League status last season.
Brentford are always happy to sit back, even at home. Without their stars, We don’t think Palace will be too dangerous in attack. We predict this will be a low-scoring draw.
Predicted Lineups
Brentford: Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Jensen, Norgaard, Damsgaard; Mbuemo, Wissa, Schade
Palace: Henderson; Richards, Andersen, Riad; Munoz, Doucoure, Wharton, Mitchell; Kamada, Edouard, Eze
Chelsea vs. Manchester City
Stamford Bridge, 1:30 AM, Monday, August 19
Manchester City started their 2024/25 campaign off on the right foot last weekend. The Cityzens lifted their first silverware of the season by beating rivals Manchester United in the Community Shield.
Chelsea, meanwhile, come into this match with absolutely no momentum. The Blues failed to win any of their five preseason matches against European sides. We don’t want to put too much stake in preseason games, but Chelsea really did look awful. Their defence was completely disjointed and the attack looked nonexistent at times.
Man City beat Chelsea 4-2 in the preseason. I’m not sure we’ll get as many goals this time, but we are sure that Pep Guardiola’s side will get another win.
Predicted Lineups
Chelsea: Jorgensen; Gusto, Tosin, Badiashile, Colwill; Fernandez, Caicedo; Madueke, Palmer, Mudryk; Jackson
Man City: Ederson; Lewis, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Silva; Bobb, De Bruyne, Doku; Haaland
Leicester City vs. Tottenham
King Power Stadium, 5:00 AM, Tuesday, August 20
Leicester City are back in the Premier League after spending one season in the Championship last season. We never really know how a newly promoted side will do until We see them against top-tier competition, but I’m really not optimistic about this Leicester team.
The Foxes back line is the same one that got them relegated in the 2022/23 Premier League season. Their forward options of Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka don’t exactly inspire confidence either.
Tottenham, on paper, should be challenging for Champions League football this season. They should easily handle Leicester. I’m predicting a win by at least two goals.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
OVER 3.5 Goals | $2.30 | |
Tottenham To Score in Both Halves - YES | $2.15
Tottenham To WIN | $1.59 |
Predicted Lineups
Leicester: Hermansen; Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Justin; Ndidi, Winks; Issahaku, De Cordova-Reid, Mavididi; Daka
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Johnson
