Newcastle vs. Nottingham Forest
St. James' Park, 10:30 PM, Tuesday, December 26
Nottingham Forest started the Nuno Espirito Santo era off with a 3-2 loss against Bournemouth. That match was marred by a truly terrible refereeing decision to send off Willy Boly, but it was a promising start nonetheless.
Newcastle also lost by one goal last matchweek. The Magpies suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Luton Town in a match that highlighted just how bad Newcastle are away from home the season and how injured their squad is right now. Thankfully for Newcastle fans they’re playing at home this week. However, their injury list is not any shorter than it was against Luton.
Eddie Howe’s side should have enough to beat Nottingham Forest, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this is a low scoring draw between two tired clubs in transitional periods. We’re backing Newcastle to win and both teams to score in this match.
Predicted Lineups
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Miley, Guimaraes, Longstaff; Almiron, Isak, Gordon
Nottm Forest: Turner; Williams, Murillo, Niakhate, Toffolo; Yates, Mangala; Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White, Elanga
Bournemouth vs. Fulham
Vitality Stadium, 1:00 AM, Wednesday, December 27
Bournemouth made it six matches unbeaten over the weekend with their 3-2 victory over Nottingham forest at The City Ground. Fulham are better than Forrest, but not by much.
Things now seem to have fallen off the rails for Marco Silva and his Fulham side after putting together a run of good results just a few weeks ago. The Cottagers lost 3-0 to Newcastle two matchweeks ago and fell 2-0 to Burnley this week.
Despite the different forms of these two clubs, we don’t think there’s much between them. The numbers back this up. Bournemouth and Fulham are neck in neck in the league table and in the xG goal differential table.
We’re going for a draw as the most likely result here. If we had to pick a side, we’d go with Bournemouth due to their strong recent form and home advantage.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Draw No Bet - Bournemouth | $1.60
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.65
Draw No Bet - Bournemouth | $1.59 |
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Ouattara; Christie, Scott; Sinisterra, Billing, Tavernier; Solanke
Fulham: Leno; Tete, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson; Palhinha, Cairney; Wilson, Pereira, Iwobi; Muniz
Sheffield United vs. Luton Town
Bramall Lane, 1:00 AM, Wednesday, December 27
Both of these clubs stunned Premier League fans over the weekend with good results against bigger and better sides. The Blades came away with a draw against Aston Villa, who are one of the most in-form teams in the Premier league. The Hatters, meanwhile, took all three points at home against Newcastle.
In this match, Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United are the favourites. Should they be? We don’t think so. Yes, it’s true the Blades have looked surprisingly solid in recent weeks, but so have Luton Town. One thing the Hatters have shown that we don’t see from Sheffield United is a cutting edge goal scoring ability.
As crazy as it is to say, players like Ross Barkley and Andros Townsend still have the ability to make something out of nothing. Sheffield United are lacking these kinds of players right now. We’re taking Luton Town in this one.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 2 - Luton Town to WIN or DRAW | $1.55
Draw No Bet - Luton Town | $2.15
Double Chance 2 - Luton Town to WIN or DRAW | $1.56 |
Predicted Lineups
Sheff Utd: Foderingham; Baldock, Robinson, Trusty, Lowe; Hamer, Souza, Brooks; Slimane, Archer, McAtee
Luton Town: Kaminski; Mengi, Andersen, Osho; Kabore, Barkley, Nakamba, Doughty; Townsend, Adebayo, Brown
Burnley vs. Liverpool
Turf Moor, 3:30 AM, Wednesday, December 27
Burley fans celebrated their club’s third win of the season after the Clarets defeated Fulham 2-0 last matchweek. Unfortunately, they will not be celebrating much longer, in our opinion at least.
Liverpool have not looked strong in the league recently, but we only see their Boxing Day fixture against Burnley going one way, and that is very poorly for Burnley. Klopp’s side will press and punish Kompany’s Clarets like we have seen so many other teams do this season.
This should be a multi goal victory for Liverpool, and a chance for some goal shy players like Darwin Nunez to feast. Betting the handicap or the over are smart bets here.
Predicted Lineups
Burnley: Trafford; Vitinho, O’Shea, Beyer, Taylor; Berge, Brownhill; Tresor, Amdouni, Odobert; Foster
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones; Elliott, Salah, Nunez
Manchester United vs. Aston Villa
Old Trafford, 6:00 AM, Wednesday, December 27
Manchester United fans received an early Christmas present on the 24th when Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of 25% of the club was finally announced. The boyhood Manchester United fan will soon take over control of football operations from the Glazer family.
We wouldn’t get too excited though if we were Red Devils supporters. It could be another eight weeks before the deal is approved by the Premier League. Another reason Manchester United fans should temper their expectations right now is because the team is not very good.
Manchester United were outclassed by West Ham at the London Stadium and haven’t scored a goal in four matches. Aston Villa’s weekend wasn’t much better as they could only draw with Sheffield United. Even with that being the case, the Villains should have no problem with Manchester United on Boxing Day. We’re backing an easy win for Unai Emery’s side.
Predicted Lineups
Man Utd: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Evans, Shaw; Amrabat, McTominay; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
Aston Villa: Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Lenglet, Moreno; Bailey, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey; Diaby, Watkins
Brentford vs. Wolves
Gtech Community Stadium, 5:30 AM, Thursday, December 28
Brentford didn’t actually play over the weekend. Their match against Manchester City was postponed due to City’s Club World Cup commitments in Saudi Arabia. This means they should be more well rested than wolves, and, in our opinion, we think they are better too.
Don’t get us wrong, Wolves have shown themselves to be class this year. They were tipped to be relegation candidates and now are up at 11th on equal points with Chelsea. In this fixture though, they will have a tough time.
Thomas Frank and Brentford are tough to beat for anyone, but especially at home. This is bad news for Wolves who are dreadful away from home. They average almost two points per match at home, but just 0.78 points per match on the road. When you add in their tired legs, we can’t see Wolves getting anything from this match.
Predicted Lineups
Brentford: Flekken; Ghoddos, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt; Jensen, Norgaard, Damsgaard; Lewis-Potter, Maupay, Wissa
Wolves: Sa; Dawson, Kilman, Toti; Semedo, Lemina, J. Gomes, Ait Nouri; Sarabia, Cunha, Hwang
Chelsea vs. Crystal Palace
Stamford Bridge, 5:30 AM, Thursday, December 28
Chelsea put in another inconsistent performance on Christmas Eve against Wolves. The Blues lost 2-0 despite having a number of chances that they should have scored. Palace, meanwhile, played their rivals Brighton in the mid week, and came away with a deserved draw.
Jordan Ayew was the goalscorer in the Eagle’s 1-1 draw with the Seagulls, but Michael Olise was the real star man in that match. WIth players like Olise, Palace are more than capable of getting another good result this week against Chelsea. With that being said, Chelsea have not lost to Palace at home since 2017.
We’re going for a draw in this match, and a low-scoring one at that. We’ll be very surprised if this match features more than 3 goals.
Predicted Lineups
Chelsea: Petrovic; Gusto, Silva, Badiashile, Colwill; Caicedo, Gallagher; Madueke, Broja, Mudryk, Jackson
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Lerma, Richards; Olise, Eze, Ayew; Mateta
Everton vs. Manchester City
Goodison Park, 6:15 AM, Thursday, December 28
Everton’s run of good in recent weeks came to a screeching halt over the past week. First they were knocked out of the League Cup by Fulham, then they were put to the sword by Tottenham over the weekend. With that being said, the Toffees haven’t looked terrible.
Sean Dyche’s team haven’t looked good enough for us to predict that they will get a good result against Man City, but they could cause Pep Guardiola’s team problems, especially considering City’s hectic schedule recently.
While the rest of the Premier League were playing domestic fixtures, City were off in Saudi Arabia winning the Club World Cup. Neither of the Cityzens’ two matches were particularly difficult for them, but they still could be fatigued, or hungover from the celebrations in the case of Jack Grealish. City should still win against Everton though. We would just be careful about betting on the margin of victory here.
Predicted Lineups
Everton: Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Keane, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Onana, Garner, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin
Man City: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol; Rodri, Stones; Silva, Foden, Grealish; Alvarez
Brighton vs. Tottenham
Amex Stadium, 5:30 AM, Friday, December 29
This is a matchup of two of the most fun teams in the Premier League to watch, especially if you are a neutral fan. Both teams play the ball out of the back religiously and are committed to playing pressing football. The latter of those two tenants is much more true for Tottenham though.
When they are at their best, Spurs have a defence as good as their attack. This is definitely not the case for Brighton. Yes, it’s true that the Seagulls will have home field advantage and be more rested, but those things are about the only things going for them.
At a base level, Spurs are more talented. When you add in that they are better defensively and far more consistent recently, this match has to end with a Tottenham victory.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
OVER 3.5 Goals | $2.12 | |
Draw No Bet - Tottenham | $1.95
Both Teams To Score and OVER 2.5 Goals | $1.62 |
Predicted Lineups
Brighton: Steele; Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Dunk, Igor; Baleba, Gilmour; Buonanotte, Lallana, Adingra; Ferguson
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Dier, Davies, Udogie; Kulusevski, Hojbjerg, Sarr; Johnson, Richarlison, Son
Arsenal vs. West Ham
Emirates Stadium, 6:15 AM, Friday, December 29
West Ham played very well against Manchester United over the weekend. David Moyes’ strategy of sitting back and countering worked to a tee, and resulted in three points for Hammers. This result was so impressive that we’ve seen other soccer betting experts tip West Ham to get a draw or even a win at Arsenal. We disagree with those experts.
There are some important differences between Arsenal and Manchester United and Arsenal that they are overlooking. One, Arsenal are more dangerous when they have the ball than Manchester United. Two, the Gunners are far more proactive and aggressive without the ball than Man U. These things will make the difference on Friday and should see Arsenal get all three points at home.
Predicted Lineups
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Jorginho; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson; Alvarez, Ward-Prowse; Kudus, Soucek, Paqueta; Bowen
