Brighton vs. Manchester United
American Express Stadium, 9:30 PM, Saturday, August 24
On paper, Brighton’s 3-0 win against Everton might have been the best performance from any team in Matchweek 1. Looking deeper though, it might be too early to project big things from the Seagulls.
Brighton’s midfield duo of Mats Wieffer and James Milner did not look convincing, especially early on in the match. Jack Hinshelwood playing out of position at left back also looked a bit shaky. Manchester United will be a real test for Fabian Hürzeler and his Seagulls side.
Speaking of tests, Brighton has been a difficult one for Man Utd to pass in recent years. The Red Devils have lost four of their last five matches against the Seagulls.
While they did win their week 1 match against Fulham, we can’t ignore recent history and Man Utd’s lack of fitness. We back the Seagulls to win here.
Predicted Lineups
Brighton: Steele; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Barco; Wieffer, Baleba; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck
Man Utd: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee
Crystal Palace vs. West Ham
Selhurst Park, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 25
While their rivals the Seagulls soared last weekend, the Eagles of Crystal Palace came crashing down to Earth last weekend with a 2-1 loss to Brentford. West Ham also failed to live up to expectations last week, losing 2-1 to Aston Villa.
Of the two results, the Palace loss is the much more worrying one. Despite the result, West Ham played Villa pretty evenly. The Villains needed to be at their best to get the win. Palace, meanwhile, created chances, but lost in familiar fashion to a side they should be beating.
If both sides repeat what we saw in Matchweek 1, West Ham should win. However, Palace are undefeated against the Hammers in their last four matches and haven’t lost to West Ham at home since 2021, so we’re predicting a draw here.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
OVER 2.5 Goals | $1.77 | |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.65
Double Chance 3 - West Ham WIN Or DRAW | $1.71 |
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Richards, Andersen, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Kamada, Mateta, Eze
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Mavropanos, Kilman, Emerson; Rodriguez; Bowen, Soucek, Paqueta, Kudus; Antonio
Fulham vs. Leicester City
Craven Cottage, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 25
Leicester City may have gotten a point from their match against Tottenham last week, but don’t let that result fool you. The Foxes were terrible in that match.
Apart from the occasional progressive play from loanee Facundo Buonanotte and a Jamie Vardy goal from nowhere, Leicester could not get anything going against Spurs. They had just 29% possession and allowed seven high-quality shots on target.
Fulham lost 1-0 last week to Manchester United, but they played pretty well overall. They held the Red Devils scoreless for 87 minutes and had plenty of good chances of their own.
When you add in that the Cottagers were much better at home than away last season, our EPL Matchweek 2 predictions have Fulham getting an easy win here.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Pereira, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
Leicester: Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Faes, Kristiansen; Winks, Ndidi; Fatawu, Buonanotte, De Cordova-Reid; Vardy
Manchester City vs. Ipswich Town
Etihad Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 25
The Premier League schedule makers have not been kind to Ipswich Town to start their first top flight season since 2002. After playing Liverpool in Matchweek 1 Tractor Boys now have to go away to reigning champions Manchester City.
The betting sites have this fixture as the most lopsided contest of EPL Matchweek 2. We agree with them. If Ipswich stop City from scoring less than three goals, we would consider it a successful day out for them.
Man City did not lose a single one of their 19 home matches last season and had a +35 goal differential in those matches. Newcastle and Brentford were the only teams outside of the top six to hold Man City to less than two goals at home last season.
Simply put, it’s going to be rough for Ipswich on Saturday. We think the -2.5 goal handicap is kind to the Tractor Boys.
Predicted Lineups
Man City: Emerson; Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Silva, Kovacic; Doku, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland
Ipswich: Walton; Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Luongo; Burns, Chaplin, Hutchinson; Delap
Southampton vs. Nottingham Forest
St. Mary's Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 25
Russell Martin and Southampton lived up to expectations in their first match back in the Premier League. The Saints dominated possession against a 10-man Newcastle side. Unfortunately though, they lost 1-0 and didn’t get any points from the match.
Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, managed to snag a well-deserved point against Bournemouth at home in Matchweek 1. It’s too early to say that Forest will be fine this season, but they did look good against the Cherries.
We expect Forest will let Southampton dominate possession and look to counter. If the Saints had more clinical forwards, we might give them a chance, but we think they will struggle to break down Forest, even at home.
Forest are good money to get a 1-0 win here.
Predicted Lineups
Southampton: McCarthy; Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens; Sugawara, Smallbone, Downes, Aribo, Walker-Peters; Armstrong, Brereton-Diaz
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Boly, Murillo, Aina; Sangare, Dominguez; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Tottenham vs. Everton
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, August 25
Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham started their 2024/25 campaign off in the most Spursy way possible last weekend with their 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
The Lilywhites had seven clear shots on target against the Foxes, but somehow managed to score just one goal. Leicester, meanwhile, scored on their only real chance of the match and managed to come away with a point despite having just 29% possession.
Tottenham should have plenty of possession against Everton this weekend. The Toffees essentially rolled over at home for Brighton in Matchweek 1 and lost 3-0. Many of Brighton’s chances in that match came by taking advantage of Ashley Young and Michael Keane.
Young is suspended and we don’t think Sean Dyche will make the mistake of playing Keane again this weekend, so we are expecting a much better defensive display from Everton.
Spurs should get the win, but Everton will make it tough for them.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.63
Anytime Goalscorer - Son | $2.20
First Half Goals - UNDER 1.5 | $1.63 |
Predicted Lineups
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son
Everton: Pickford; Holgate, Tarkowski, O'Brien, Mykolenko; Iroegbunam, Gueye; Harrison, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin
Aston Villa vs. Arsenal
Villa Park, 2:30 AM, Sunday, August 25
Aston Villa are significant underdogs against Arsenal this weekend. We don’t think they should be.
Unai Emery and Aston Villa practically ended Arsenal’s title run last season with an emphatic 2-0 win at the Emirates last April. The Villains were undefeated against the Gunners last season, having beaten them 1-0 at Villa Park as well. They also were really good in their 2-1 win at the London Stadium last week against West Ham.
Arsenal put in a routine performance against Wolves at home last weekend, winning 2-0 via goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka. They didn’t quite dominate the match though as possession was split pretty evenly between the sides.
From the results we’ve seen so far, Villa look more up for a big match right now. However, the Gunners definitely have more talent and will probably get the win. We’re not confident enough to totally rule Emery’s side out though. We like the double chance and draw no bet markets for
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 1 - Aston Villa WIN or DRAW | $2.00
Draw No Bet - Aston Villa | $3.20
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.63 |
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Onana, Tielemans; Bailey, Rogers, McGinn; Watkins
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli
Bournemouth vs. Newcastle
Vitality Stadium, 11:00 PM, Sunday, August 25
Bournemouth could only manage to get a 1-1 draw against underdogs Nottingham Forest last weekend. Newcastle, meanwhile, also struggled against an underdog.
The Magpies played 62 minutes down a man against Southampton. They only had 22% possession and were outshot 19-3, but still somehow came away with a 1-0 win. As impressed as we were by their resilience, we don’t like Newcastle’s chances against Bournemouth.
Newcastle were a bottom-half team away from home last season. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league against the Cherries since 2015 and haven’t beaten them at the Vitality Stadium since 2020.
Given Newcastle’s limited centre back options right now with Fabian Schar suspended and Sven Botman injured we think Bournemouth will win this match.
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez; Scott, Cook; Ouattara, Tavernier, Sinisterra; Semenyo
Newcastle: Pope; Livramento, Krafth, Burn, Trippier; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
Wolves vs. Chelsea
Molineux Stadium, 11:00 PM, Sunday, August 25
Both Wolves and Chelsea started their 2024/25 season with predictable 2-0 losses to Arsenal and Man City, respectively.
We have to say that Wolves looked the better of the two sides in their losses. It was clear from the beginning that City had Chelsea’s entire defensive scheme figured out from the jump. The result overall does not bode well for the Blues’ chances at success this season or this weekend against Wolves.
Chelsea have won just one of their last eight matches against Wolves. They have lost three straight matches against the West Midlands side.
The Blues have added more talent since their last loss to Wolves, and Wolves have lost some talent since then too, but Chelsea are just too disorganised to count on right now.
This match has a draw written all over it.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 1 - Wolves WIN Or DRAW | $2.10
OVER 2.5 Goals | $1.60 | |
Double Chance 1 - Wolves WIN Or DRAW | $2.10 |

Wolves: Sa; Doherty, Mosquera, Toti, Ait-Nouri; Gomes, Lemina; Hwang, Bellegarde, Gomes; Cunha
Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Nkunku; Jackson
Liverpool vs. Brentford
Anfield, 1:30 AM, Monday, August 26
The Arne Slot era at Liverpool got off to a slow start last week away at Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys held the Reds scoreless the first half. Liverpool eventually turned it on in the second though to get a well-deserved 2-0 win.
Brentford also scored two last week. The Bees made the most of their chances and upset a Crystal Palace side who many have big expectations for this season. As good as that result was for Brentford, we don’t see them getting another upset win this weekend.
Liverpool have scored three or more goals in both their last two matches against Brentford. Overall, the Reds have scored multiple goals in each of their last five competitive matches.
Even if Liverpool start slow again, we think they are good money to win by multiple goals at home against Brentford.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Liverpool To WIN and OVER 2.5 Goals | $1.52
Both Teams To Score - NO | $2.25
Liverpool -1.5 | $1.63 |
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota
Brentford: Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade
