Luton Town vs. Chelsea
Kenilworth Road, 10:00 PM, Saturday, December 30
Luton Town's 3-2 victory over Sheffield United on Boxing Day puts them just one point away from safety and getting out of the relegation zone. The Hatters have a game in hand over Everton, but they will not be wanting to rely on that, so getting out of the bottom three as soon as possible is crucial for them.
Luton’s opponents, Chelsea, also got victory in the last matchweek. However, it wasn’t really a convincing one. Nicolas Jackson again missed chances he should’ve scored. Overall, the Blues were lucky to get all three points against Palace. We think this matchweek will be more convincing for them though.
Yes, Chelsea will be playing away at Kenilworth Road, which has been difficult for big sides, but they will be far more rested than Luton since they had so many players out with suspension for the last match. When you add in that Chelsea are the more talented side, a Blues victory seems likely here.
Predicted Lineups
Luton Town: Kaminski; Mengi, Andersen, Osho; Doughty, Barkley, Kabore, Giles; Townsend, Adebayo, Brown
Chelsea: Petrovic; Disasi, Silva, Badiashile, Gusto; Caicedo, Gallagher; Sterling, Nkunku, Mudryk; Jackson
Aston Villa vs. Burnley
Villa Park, 1:00 AM, Sunday, December 31
Aston Villa’s title challenge hit a roadblock in their last match. The Villains gave up a two goal lead and threw away all three points in the second half to Manchester United. The worst thing about this result was that it was totally deserved. Manchester United were the better side for much of that match.
Thankfully for Unai Emery, Burnley will not be the better side against Aston Villa. The Clarets have not scored in three matches and didn’t even have a shot on target against Liverpool on Boxing Day.
Villa Park has been a fortress for Unai Emery this season, so we’re expecting Aston Villa to bounce back against Burnley and get a huge result at home. We’ll be surprised If Villa don’t win by at least two goals here.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Aston Villa -1.5 Goals | $1.98
Both Teams To Score - NO | $1.90
Aston Villa -1.5 Goals | $1.97 |
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Lenglet, Torres; Dendoncker, Luiz, Ramsey; Diaby, McGinn; Watkins
Burnley: Trafford; Vitinho, O’Shea, Beyer, Taylor’ Berge, Brownhill; Gudmundsson, Amdouni, Odobert; Rodriguez
Crystal Palace vs. Brentford
Selhurst Park, 1:00 AM, Sunday, December 31
Both Crystal Palace and Brentford lost their midweek fixtures due to mistakes in defence, so we expect both sides to put in much tidier performances this week. Besides that, it’s hard to know what to expect from this match. Brentford have a better midfield unit, but Palace’s defence and attack have proved to be class this year. Attack especially is where we think this game will be decided.
With Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney out, Brentford’s only quality attacker is Yoane Wissa. He’s not a bad option, but compared to Palace’s Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, and Jean-Philippe Mateta, Brentford are outgunned. In a tight game like this, these players can make the difference.
We think this match will be a draw, but a bet on Palace to win wouldn’t be a bad bet either.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.87
Draw No Bet - Crystal Palace | $1.65
Match Result - DRAW | $3.25 |
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Lerma, Hughes; Olise, Eze, Ayew; Mateta
Brentford: Flekken; Ghoddos, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt; Jensen, Norgaard, Damsgaard; Lewis-Potter, Maupay, Wissa
Manchester City vs. Sheffield United
Etihad Stadium, 1:00 AM, Sunday, December 31
Sheffield United are the biggest underdogs of Matchweek 20. The Blades have been given remarkable $37.00 odds to win this match. You’d probably find shorter odds if you were betting on whether hell would freeze over. So, are the betting sites right? Yes, we think they are.
Even with injuries to Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Jeremy Doku, Man City are just too good for Sheffield United. This should be an easy victory for the Cityzens.
With all that being said, Sheffield United nearly came away with a point the last time they played against Man City. They won’t get a point here, but keeping City under 4 goals is very doable.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
UNDER 3.5 Goals | $1.98 | |
Man City To Score In Both Halves - YES | $1.44
UNDER 3.5 Goals | $1.95 |
Predicted Lineups
Man City: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Silva, Foden, Grealish; Alvarez
Sheff Utd: Foderingham; Baldock, Robinson, Trusty, Lowe; Brewster, Souza, Brooks; Slimane, Archer, McAtee
Wolves vs. Everton
Molineux Stadium, 1:00 AM, Sunday, December 31
Wolves are on a two game win streak following convincing victories against Chelsea and Brentford. Everton, meanwhile, have come back down to earth a little after losing back-to-back matches against Man City and Tottenham, respectively. In addition to having better form, Wolves will also have the home field advantage on Sunday. Despite those things, we like Everton in this one.
The 4-1 scoreline against Brentford really flattered Wolves. A hattrick of mistakes by the Bees’ Nathan Collins led directly to Wolves goals. If not for those mistakes, Brentford could easily have won that match. On the other hand, Everton have looked solid, even in their defeats.
Our pick for this match is a draw. If we had to pick a winner, we’d give a slight edge to Everton.
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Dawson, Kilman, Toti; Semedo, Lemina, J. Gomes, Bueno, Sarabia; Cunha, Hwang
Everton: Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gomes, Onana; Harrison, Garner, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin
Nottingham Forest vs. Manchester United
The City Ground, 3:30 AM, Sunday, December 31
Nottingham Forest’s big win at Newcastle is a good omen for how the Nuno Espírito Santo era at the club might go. Manchester United got a good omen of their own with their 3-2 comeback victory against Aston Villa.
As good as these victories were for these sides, both clubs are very much a work in progress. Manchester United are the more talented and in-form side, so we’re backing them to win here. Goals don’t come easy for opposition at The City Ground though, so we think this will be a low-scoring, narrow victory for the Red Devils.
Predicted Lineups
Nottm Forest: Turner; Montiel, Niakhate, Murillo, Aina; Danilo, Yates; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Man Utd: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Evans, Shaw; Mainoo, Eriksen; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
Fulham vs. Arsenal
Craven Cottage, 12:00 AM, Monday, January 1
Fulham’s slide down the table since their 10 goal bonanza a few weeks ago continued on Boxing Day. The Cottagers were easily defeated 3-0 by Bournemouth away at the Vitality Stadium. Playing at home this matchweek will give Fulham a boost, but unfortunately it won’t be a big enough one to get past Arsenal.
The Gunners have one of the best defences in the Premier League. Their defence is just as good away from home as it is at the Emirates too. We think Monday will be a long night for the Cottagers.
Arsenal slipped up midweek against West Ham, we think they will set things right against Fulham and get a convincing victory.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Tete, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson; Palhinha, Cairney; Wilson, Pereira, Iwobi; Muniz
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Havertz; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli
Tottenham vs. Bournemouth
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 12:00 AM, Monday, January 1
Bournemouth’s revolution under Andoni Iraola continued on Boxing Day with a decisive 3-0 victory over Fulham. The Cottagers couldn’t breathe at times because of Bournemouth’s press. In attack, Dominic Solanke continued to be the main man for the Cherries. His 62nd minute penalty was his fifth goal in three matches.
Tottenham should have a better time of things against the Cherries than Fulham did, but with injuries at the centre back position and an unsettled midfield, Spurs could be vulnerable building up from the back in this match.
Overall, we like Tottenham to win here, but a draw would not be surprising, so putting money on Draw No Bet Bournemouth would be a solid bet if you’re looking for a bigger payout.
Predicted Lineups
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Dier, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Skipp; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Richarlison
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Ouattara; Scott, Christie; Sinisterra, Kluivert, Tavernier; Solanke
Liverpool vs. Newcastle
Anfield, 6:00 AM, Tuesday, January 2
It’s time to start worrying about Newcastle. The Magpies have been faltering for weeks due to an injury crisis, but a loss at home to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day marks a new low for Eddie Howe’s side. Joelinton will be back this week, but Newcastle were bad away from home even when they were healthy. Getting anything at Anfield will be an enormous challenge for Newcastle.
While Newcastle struggled on Boxing Day, Liverpool were at their best in a 2-0 victory over Burnley. Goals from Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez were welcome sites for the Reds who had become a little too reliant on Mohamed Salah recently.
With Newcastle in the state they’re in right now, Liverpool should get another easy victory this week and continue their title challenge.
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Gomez; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon
West Ham vs. Brighton
London Stadium, 5:30 AM, Wednesday, January 3
Brighton’s injury crisis went from bad to worse this week. Winger Kaoru Mitoma went out injured against Crystal Palace in Matchweek 18, and now, Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that Brighton’s other starting winger, Simon Adingra, will miss 4-5 weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Seagull’s big win against Tottenham should have them flying high despite the injuries, but West Ham are soaring in their own right. The Hammers 2-0 victory over Arsenal shows just what they are capable of.
This one will be a tight match that could go either way. Given that West Ham dominated Brighton earlier in the season, we’re giving them the slight edge here.
Predicted Lineups
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Mavropanos, Ogbonna, Emerson; Alvarez, Ward-Prowse; Kudus, Soucek, Benrahma; Bowen
Brighton: Steele; Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Igor, Estupinan; Gilmour, Dahoud; Buonanotte, Gross, Pedro; Ferguson
