Liverpool vs. Luton Town
Anfield, 6:30 AM, Thursday, February 22
EPL Matchweek 26 starts off early on Thursday morning with a throwback fixture between Luton Town and Liverpool. This fixture used to be one of the most intense matches back in the 80s and 90s. More recently, in November, Luton held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road. However, on Thursday, this should be a relatively straightforward win for Liverpool.
Apart from a 3-1 loss to Arsenal, Liverpool are firing on all cylinders. Mohamed Salah is back from injury and the Reds’ defence coped well playing against a direct side like Brentford last week.
Luton Town are on an opposite trajectory. They’ve lost two straight in the league, including a devastating 3-1 loss to the worst team in the Premier League, Sheffield United.
This should be a multi-goal victory for Liverpool. If you really want to back Luton, betting on them to score is a solid bet.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Liverpool -1.5 Goals | $1.58
Half-Time Result - Liverpool | $1.55
Liverpool To Score In Both Halves - YES | $1.59 |
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Elliott, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
Luton Town: Kaminski; Mengi, Osho, Bell; Ogbene, Lokonga, Barkley, Doughty; Morris, Woodrow, Chong
Aston Villa vs. Nottingham Forest
Villa Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 25
A win against Fulham last week and a Tottenham loss against Wolves means Aston Villa’s race for the top four is still on. The Villains are currently in fourth, just two points ahead of Spurs.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are just four points out of the relegation zone thanks to a strong 2-0 win against David Moyes’ West Ham at home. This week will be much tougher for Nuno Espírito Santo’s men.
Forest have the fourth worst record away from home in the Premier League this season. Villa are the fourth best home record in the league.
Nottingham Forest’s only real chance in this one is bunkering down and limiting Villa’s chances on the counter. We’ve seen other teams do this well, but those teams were more talented than Forest are. We’re going for a low-scoring win for Aston Villa in this one.
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Lenglet, Torres, Moreno; Bailey, McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey, Tielemans; Watkins
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Tavares; Dominguez, Danilo; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Awoniyi
Brighton vs. Everton
American Express Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 25
Brighton seem to have got their season back on track with two wins in their last three matches. Everton, meanwhile, seem to just be barely hanging on to their Premier League status.
The Toffees have drawn four of their last five matches and are level on points with Luton Town in 17th. Their superior goal difference is the only thing keeping Everton out of the relegation zone right now.
Most other EPL Matchweek 26 predictions have the Toffees getting at least a point here and separating themselves from the bottom back a bit. We disagree.
Yes, it’s true Brighton struggle against low block teams like Dyche’s Everton, but the Seagulls have scored 9 goals against teams who play low blocks in their last two matches. Against Everton specifically, Everton have won just one of their last four matches against the Seagulls.
We’re backing Everton to score here, they have in their last four matches against Brighton, but the Seagulls will win this one overall.
Predicted Lineups
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk; Estupinan; Gross, Gilmour; Adingra, Buonanotte, Mitoma; Ferguson
Everton: Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Young, Gueye, Garner, McNeil; Doucoure; Calvert-Lewin
Crystal Palace vs. Burnley
Selhurst Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 25
This will be Crystal Palace’s first match under their new manager Oliver Glasner, who took over this week after news broke that Roy Hodgson fell ill at training last week. Hodgson has stepped down and presumably will retire from management permanently.
Because Palace aren’t 100% safe from relegation, it’s unclear whether Glasner will have his Eagles side come out in their aggressive “Red Bull” style of soccer or whether they will try to play safe and conservative to start. Either way, this will be a tricky match for Palace.
Burnley are by no means a good team, but they know how to keep the ball and could cause problems for a side who’s in disarray like Palace. Our EPL predictions give a slight edge to Palace, but your best bet here is Double Chance - Burnley WIN or DRAW or Draw No Bet - Burnley.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 2 - Burnley WIN or DRAW | $1.82
Double Chance 2 - Burnley WIN or DRAW | $1.81
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.90 |
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace: Johnstone; Ward, Andersen, Richards; Munoz, Lerma, Wharton, Mitchell; Ayew, Mateta, Edouard
Burnley: Trafford; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Delcroix; Gudmundsson, Berge, Brownhill, Odobert; Fofana, Amdouni
Manchester United vs. Fulham
Old Trafford, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 25
Manchester United finally are living up to their potential. The Reds have won four straight and their star summer signing Rasmus Højlund has scored in six consecutive matches. More importantly than all this, the Red Devils actually look convincing. These aren’t lucky wins.
Fulham, on the other hand, are desperately needing more convincing wins. The Cottagers have won just one league match in 2023, and haven’t won away from home since August. You read that right. Fulham have not won at home since the first week of the Premier League season.
Getting their second away win of the season at Manchester United would always be difficult, but with the form Man U are in right now, it seems almost impossible. Ten Hag’s Man United will get another convincing win here.
Predicted Lineups
Man Utd: Onana; Dalot; Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Højlund
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Diop, Ream, Robinson; Reed, Pereira, Cairney; De Cordova-Reid, Muniz, Willian
Bournemouth vs. Manchester City
Vitality Stadium, 4:30 AM, Sunday, February 25
Manchester City were able to put their 1-1 draw with Chelsea behind them quickly this week by beating Brentford 1-0 in a rescheduled Matchweek 18 fixture that was played on Wednesday morning. The Cityzens had 25 shots in that game, but just one goal, thanks to Erling Haaland.
Bournemouth played at St. James’ Park last week and came away with a 2-2 draw against a leaky Newcastle side. As leaky as Eddie Howe’s team were in that match, Bournemouth were too. They easily could have lost the match.
The Cherries will have to get extremely lucky to hold on and get another result while being dominated like they were last week. It’s not just us saying this. According to BoomBet, this is the second most lopsided fixture of Matchweek 26.
We’re going to agree with the betting sites on this one and back Man City to get a big win here.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Team To Score First Goal - 2nd Half - Man City | $1.55
Man City To WIN & UNDER 3.5 Goals | $2.55
UNDER 3.5 Goals | $1.64 |
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kelly; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Solanke
Man City: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake; Rodri, Silva; Foden, Alvarez, Doku; Haaland
Arsenal vs. Newcastle
Emirates Stadium, 7:00 AM, Sunday, February 25
Arsenal could go top of the Premier League this week with a win against Newcastle. For the Magpies, they need a result here to stay in the race for European football next season. Unfortunately, for Eddie Howe, we don’t see them getting anything from this match.
The Gunners are in top form right now. They’ve scored 11 goals in their last two matches and have won five straight Premier League matches. No team is on a hotter run than Arsenal right now. This is bad news for Newcastle.
Eddie Howe’s side have given up multiple goals in four of their last five matches. They are scoring goals too, but Arsenal have the best defence in the league, so we don’t see Newcastle winning a shootout against the Gunners. When you add in the fact that Arsenal are playing at home, this is a no brainer. Arsenal will win this match.
Predicted Lineups
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Rice, Trossard; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Livramento; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley; Almiron, Isak, Gordon
Wolves vs. Sheffield United
Molineux Stadium, 12:30 AM, Monday, February 26
Wolves 2-1 win against Spurs last week yet again proved they are a side everyone should be taking seriously. Sheffield United, meanwhile, lost 5-0 to Brighton and showed why they deserve to be relegated this season.
This week, we’re expecting these teams to show more of the same. Yes, Sheffield won the first match between these teams earlier in the season, and it’s true that it will be more difficult for Wolves to play on the front foot compared to their normal counter attacking style, but their attacking players are too good to be shut out by a team like Sheffield United.
This should be a tight match, but we’re backing Wolves to get the win.
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Kilman, Dawson, Toti; Semedo, Lemina, Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Hwang, Neto
Sheff Utd: Foderingham; Trusty, Ahmedhodzic, Robinson; Bogle, Hamer, Souza, Osborn, Larouci; McAtee; McBurnie
West Ham vs. Brentford
London Stadium, 7:00 AM, Tuesday, February 27
Both West Ham and Brentford were on the wrong end of beatings in Matchweek 25. West Ham were embarrassed 2-0 by Nottingham Forest, and fans are calling for David Moyes to be sacked. Brentford lost 4-1 to a rampaging Liverpool side. To make matters worse for the Bees, they lost on Wednesday 1-0 to Man City.
West Ham and Brentford have been in this position before. If they were playing anyone else, we’d back them to get a result and quiet the noise around them. With these two sides playing each other, we’re not really sure what will happen.
That’s why we’re going with a draw here. If you want to pick a winner, Brentford are the more cohesive side right now with a better striker.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.58
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.60
Double Chance 2 - Brentford WIN or DRAW | $1.57 |
Predicted Lineups
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson; Ward-Prowse, Alvarez; Bowen, Soucek, Kudus, Antonio
Brentford: Flekken; Jorgensen, Ajer, Mee; Roerslev, Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt, Reguilon; Toney, Wissa
