Brentford vs. Chelsea
Gtech Community Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
As big of a win as the Carabao Cup victory was for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, most media attention has been given to Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea. The ‘Blue Billion Dollar Bottle Jobs’, as Gary Neville called them, actually gave Liverpool a game for 90 minutes of the match, but completely capitulated in extra time and gave up a 118th minute goal.
This result has many sports bettors down on Chelsea, which explains why betting odds are so close in this one. Typically, we’re a bit cautious of jumping on soccer betting trends like this, but we think it makes sense here.
Brentford have looked great since Ivan Toney got back from his suspension. Unfortunately, the points just haven’t been there. According to the advanced metrics, the Bees should be a top ten club. We’re expecting them to finally get some luck, and some points, this weekend against Chelsea.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 1 - Brentford WIN or DRAW | $1.68
UNDER 3.5 Goals | $1.55 | |
Double Chance 1 - Brentford WIN or DRAW | $1.69 |
Predicted Lineups
Brentford: Flekken; Jorgensen, Ajer, Mee; Lewis-Potter, Janelt, Norgaard, Roerslev, Reguilon; Maupay, Toney
Chelsea: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Colwill, Chillwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Nkunku
Everton vs. West Ham
Goodison Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
Everton drew last week 1-1 with Brighton down at the Amex, but instead of picking up just one point, the Toffees got five thanks to a reduced points deduction by the Premier League. Sean Dyche’s side were originally deducted 10 points. That has now been reduced to 6, giving Everton some breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone.
West Ham, meanwhile, secured their first Premier League victory in seven matches last week by beating Brentford 4-2. Key to this win was Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus returning to the starting lineup. With these players back and Jarrod Bowen firing up top, West Ham can beat anyone. Well, almost anyone.
Sean Dyche’s tactics could cause problems for West Ham. Everton won’t give the Hammers many chances to counter, which is how they score a lot of their goals. Our pick for this match is another draw for the Toffees. 1-1 or 0-0 feels likely here.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 2 - West Ham WIN or DRAW | $1.77
West Ham +1 | $1.82 | |
Double Chance 2 - West Ham WIN or DRAW | $1.79 |
Predicted Lineups
Everton: Pickford; Godfrey, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Gueye, Garner, McNeil; Doucoure; Calvert-Lewin
West Ham: Areola; Coufal, Mavropanos, Zouma, Emerson; Soucek, Alvarez; Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Paqueta; Bowen
Fulham vs. Brighton
Craven Cottage, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Everton last week was a disappointing result, but the real disappointment for the Seagulls came midweek when it was revealed that winger Kaoru Mitoma will miss the rest of the season through injury. The Japanese international is Brighton’s most dangerous attacker and key to almost everything they do down the left side.
Evan Ferguson, Danny Welbeck, and Joao Pedro are also likely to miss the Fulham match through injury.
Even with Mitoma, Ferguson, Welbeck, and Pedro, beating Fulham would’ve been difficult for the Seagulls. The Cottagers are having a great season under Marco Silva. They are 12th in the Premier League, well clear of the relegation zone, and just beat Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Fulham are dominant at home. When you add in their good form and Brighton’s injury list, this should be a win for the Cottagers.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson; Reed, Lukic; Willian, Pereira, Iwobi; Muniz
Brighton: Steele; Webster, Van Hecke, Dunk, Estupinan; Gross, Baleba; Buonanotte, Lallana, Adingra; Enciso
Newcastle vs. Wolves
St. James' Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
Newcastle are one of the most inconsistent teams in the Premier League right now, especially considering their quality. Eddie Howe’s side were completely outclassed by Arsenal last week, showing the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s elite. This spells big problems for their chances against Wolves on Sunday.
Wolves have won three out of their last five Premier League matches and four of their last six matches away from home in all competitions.
We’ve seen other EPL Matchweek 27 predictions saying Newcastle should be favourites here because of their strength at home. We disagree with this point. Newcastle have won just one of their last six matches at home. Their last two matches at home have been draws to Bournemouth and lowly Luton down.
We think Newcastle will keep this streak going, and this one will end in another draw for the Magpies.
Predicted Lineups
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Livramento; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley; Almiron, Isak, Gordon
Wolves: Sa; Kilman, Dawson, Toti; Semedo, Lemina, Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Hwang, Neto
Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool
The City Ground, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
Jurgen Klopp’s men, or Klopp’s kids, as they’ve been recently called, will be coming into this match on a high after winning the Carabao Cup on Sunday. Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Liverpool are in the middle of a genuine injury crisis right now.
Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcántara, Darwin Nunez, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, and Stefan Bajcetic are all on the Liverpool injury list.
Nottingham Forest have won just once in their last five matches and don’t look sent to turn things around any time soon. Even with their injuries, Liverpool should still be able to get by Forest, but you should be cautious of EPL Matchweek 27 predictions backing a huge Liverpool victory here.
Predicted Lineups
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Niakhate; Dominguez, Danilo; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Awoniyi
Liverpool: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister, Elliott; Danns, Gakpo, Diaz
Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 3
The Oliver Glasner era at Crystal Palace got off to a flying start with a 3-0 win against Burnley last week Tottenham, meanwhile, had Matchweek 26 off because Chelsea were playing in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
As good as that result was for Palace, it would be a lot to expect something similar against Spurs, especially on the road. Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side are averaging 2.08 points per match at home in the Premier League this season, which is good enough for fifth best in the league.
With all that being said, Spurs lost their last home match at home against Wolves. Palace don’t have nearly the same quality as Wolves though, and they are still dealing with injuries to Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and Michael Olise.
Tottenham should get a convincing victory here.
Predicted Lineups
Tottenham: Vicario; Emerson, Romero, Van de Ven, Davies; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Richarlison
Crystal Palace: Johnstone; Ward, Andersen, Richards; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Ayew, Mateta, Edouard
Luton Town vs. Aston Villa
Kenilworth Road, 4:30 AM, Sunday, March 3
After six undefeated matches in all competitions and stunning Brighton and Everton in the Premier League a few weeks ago, Luton Town have come back down to Earth. The Hatters have lost 2-1 to Manchester United, 4-1 to Liverpool, and 6-2 to Manchester City. News of Everton’s points deduction being reduced also hurt the Hatters during this stretch.
Aston Villa are also in a poor run of form, by their standards at least. The Villains have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions and three of their last four home matches. However, Villa have won their last two matches, against Forest and Fulham, respectively.
A few weeks ago, we would have said that Luton Town had an opportunity to get something here, but that’s all changed now. As we explained, the Hatters are seemingly in free fall. Villa look to be returning to their true form and should take care of Luton on Sunday.
Predicted Lineups
Luton Town: Kaminski; Mengi, Osho, Bell; Ogbene, Lokonga, Barkley, Doughty; Morris, Woodrow, Chong
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Lenglet, Torres, Moreno; Bailey, McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey; Tielemans, Watkins
Burnley vs. Bournemouth
Turf Moor, 12:00 AM, Monday, March 4
Burnley lost 3-0 last week to Crystal Palace and their newly appointed manager Oliver Glasner. Despite this loss, and frankly embarrassing season overall, reports claim Burnley higher-ups are not going to sack Vincent Kompany.
The Clarets had just two shots in total against Palace and were outpossessed 56% to 44%. If Palace, without their star players and under a new manager, can do that to Burnley, we’re really worried about how they will fare against Bournemouth.
Andoni Iraola’s Cherries press high up the pitch and do a great job of winning the ball in advantageous positions. This is the perfect strategy to use against Burnley, who are steadfastly committed to playing possession football.
We’ll be very surprised if this match ends in anything but a multi-goal victory for Bournemouth.
Predicted Lineups
Burnley: Trafford; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Berge, Benson, Odobert; Fofana, Amdouni
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Solanke
Manchester City vs. Manchester United
Etihad Stadium, 2:30 AM, Monday, March 4
The Manchester Derby is the biggest match of EPL Matchweek 27, and by a big margin. These two rivals could not be in more different forms right now.
Man City are looking to claim their fourth straight Premier League title and lift the Champions League trophy for a second consecutive season. Man United, meanwhile, are in sixth and were just embarrassed by Fulham at home. The Cottagers had lost all but one of their away matches before that fixture.
City have won four of their last five matches against Manchester United. The Cityzens have not lost at home to their Manchester Derby rivals since 2021.
Erling Haaland scored five goals against Luton Town in the FA Cup midweek. We don’t think he’ll get as many against Manchester United, but his side should get another victory this weekend.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
OVER 3.5 Goals | $1.98 | |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.75
Man City To Score In Both Halves - YES | $1.74 |
Predicted Lineups
Man City: Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Ake; Rodri, Stones, Kovacic; Silva, Foden, Doku; Halaand
Man Utd: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof; Mainoo, Casemiro; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
Sheffield United vs. Arsenal
Bramall Lane, 7:00 AM, Tuesday, March 5
This is the biggest mismatch in the Premier League this week, according to the betting sites. If you bet just $10 on Sheffield United, you’d get $150 if they win. We’d love to tell you that this is a great bet so that you can make some money on Tuesday morning, but we can’t. The Blades are dreadful. Arsenal, on the other hand, are flying.
Sheffield United’s only chance in this match is to close up shop, try to prevent Arsenal from scoring, and hope for a 0-0 draw. This is easier said than done though. The Gunners have won their last Premier League matches. Their average margin of victory in those matches was 3.5 goals.
If Arsenal take this match seriously, they should win by at least two goals.
Predicted Lineups
Sheff Utd: Grbic; Ahmedhodzic, Trusty, Robinson; Bogle, Norwood, Souza, Hamer, Larouci; McAtee, Brewster
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Havertz, Rice; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli
