The Premier League delivered its fair share of twists and turns last week. This week could deliver more of the same, but we’ll have to wait a little to see all three title contenders going at it. Only Liverpool and Arsenal play this week, with Man City playing in the FA Cup against Chelsea instead.

Luton Town vs. Brentford
Kenilworth Road, 12:00 AM, Sunday, April 21
Luton Town suffered a comprehensive 5-1 defeat to Manchester City last week. The Hatters held City for much of the match before falling off late and allowing the Cityzens to blow the match wide open. Brentford, meanwhile, got a much-needed 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The last time these two sides played, Brentford came away with a comprehensive 3-1 win. Luton Town playing at home in this one should give them a better chance of winning here. The Bees don’t really have anything to play for either, which could help Luton. With all that being said, the Hatters are in 18th place for a reason. They are not a good side and are rightfully underdogs here.
Luton Town have gone 13 straight matches without keeping a clean sheet. Brentford don’t have the best attack in the league, but with Ivan Toney and they’re other forwards, we like their chances of scoring multiple goals and getting a win here.
Predicted Lineups
Luton Town: Kaminski; Hashioka, Burke, Doughty; Onyedinma, Berry, Barkley, Chong; Townsend, Morris, Clark
Brentford: Flekken; Roerslev, Jorgensen, Collins, Reguilon; Damsgaard, Janelt, Jensen; Mbuemo, Toney, Wissa
Sheffield United vs. Burnley
Bramall Lane, 12:00 AM, Sunday, April 21
This is a match between two teams who will almost certainly be relegated this season. Burnley still have a chance though. The Clarets have lost just once in their last six matches, they are six points back of Nottingham Forest in 17th.
Burnley blew a chance to close that gap against Brighton in Matchweek 33 when goalkeeper Arijanet Muric let an easy pass roll under his foot into his own goal. Sheffield United also gave away an own goal last week in their 2-0 loss to Brentford.
The last time these two played, Burnley battered the Blades 5-0. This Sheff Utd is a different, arguably worse, side with several injuries in defence and a new manager. Home-field advantage is the only thing in their favour here. That’s not enough for us to back them.
Burnley should get a win here and keep their dreams of a great escape alive.
Predicted Lineups
Sheff Utd: Grbic; Holgate, Ahmedhodžić, Trusty; Slimane, Hamer, Arblaster, Osborn, Larouci; Brereton-Diaz, McBurnie
Burnley: Muric; Assignon, Ekdal, Esteve, Vitinho; Foster, Cullen, Berge, Larsen; Odobert, Fofana
Wolves vs. Arsenal
Molineux Stadium, 4:30 AM, Sunday, April 21
Arsenal let go of their grip on the Premier League title race last week in their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. The Gunners are now two points behind Manchester City and first place in the EPL. Wolves, meanwhile, dropped points to their Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in a 2-2 draw.
Wolves have caused problems for big sides this season. Arsenal were not one of them. The Gunners defeated Wolves 2-1 back in December. Both Arsenal goals were scored in the first 20 minutes of that match. They were dominant throughout.
After the loss to Villa, we’re expecting Arsenal to come out firing, which is bad news for Wolves. Gary O’Neil’s side are winless in their last five matches and haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since February.
This should be a convincing win for Arsenal.
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Bueno, Kilman, Toti; Semedo, Doyle, Lemina, Ait-Nouri; Saramia, Gomes, Cunha
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Rice, Jorginho; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli
Everton vs. Nottingham Forest
Goodison Park, 10:30 PM, Sunday, April 21
The result of this fixture could decide the futures of both teams involved. Everton are just one point ahead of Nottingham Forest with more PSR charges looming. A loss could draw them into the relegation zone. A loss for Forest could do the same. The Reds are just one point ahead of Luton Town in, who are currently in 18th place.
Given the stakes, we’ve seen some EPL predictions saying this will be a dull match. We disagree. We think both clubs will go for it. In fact, this could be one of the most exciting matches of the Premier League weekend. With that being said, the best chance of a team scoring here is on a set piece.
Forest are one of the worst set piece defending teams in the league. Everton and Sean Dyche are famously dangerous on set pieces. This could make the difference on Sunday night. We’re picking an Everton win.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Everton To Score 2+ Goals - YES | $1.98
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.70
Everton To WIN | $2.06 |
Predicted Lineups
Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Young, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Onana, Garner, McNeil; Doucoure; Beto
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Omobamidele, Murillo, Aina; Yates, Danilo; Reyna, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Aston Villa vs. Bournemouth
Villa Park, 12:00 AM, Monday, April 22
Aston Villa reasserted their hold on fourth place and Champions League qualification for next season by beating Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates last week. The Villains did well to hold on in the first half. In the second, they completely dominated the Gunners.
Speaking of domination, that’s exactly what Bournemouth did to Manchester United on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Cherries, they had to settle for a 2-2 draw, despite the domination.
A 2-2 draw is how the last Aston Villa vs. Bournemouth match finished this season. Both sides have enough quality to repeat this scoreline this week, but we’re going to give the edge to Villa.
Unai Emery’s side have not lost in three matches and have a lot more to play for right now. They’re also playing at home, which is still a big advantage for the Villains.
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Moreno; McGinn, Tielemans; Diaby, Rogers, Zaniolo; Watkins
Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Sensei, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Ouattara, Billings, Kluivert; Solanke
Crystal Palace vs. West Ham
Selhurst Park, 12:00 AM, Monday, April 22
Crystal Palace seem to finally be putting things together under new manager Oliver Glasner. The Eagles showed out against Liverpool last week. Their 1-0 win was their first win in 13 matches at Anfield. It was also the first match where Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze were fit enough to play together since Glasner took over in late February.
Unlike Palace, West Ham seem to be falling apart down the stretch. The Hammers have just one of their last nine matches in all competitions and were shut out 2-0 by Fulham last week. Palace have given up goals in four of their last five matches, so West Ham should at least score here. Getting all three points won’t be easy though.
The Eagles have scored first in nine of their last ten matches. West Ham have conceded first in their last five. Crystal Palace’s story all season has been an inability to hold on to leads. The match against Liverpool showed that’s not always the case though.
Our pick for this one is a draw, the same result the last time these teams played earlier this season.
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Clyne, Andersen, Lerma; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Olise, Mateta, Eze
West Ham: Fabianski; Coufal, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Emerson; Alvarez, Ward-Prowse; Kudus, Soucek, Paqueta; Antonio
Fulham vs. Liverpool
Craven Cottage, 1:30 AM, Monday, April 22
Liverpool’s defeat to Crystal Palace at home last week was one of the most shocking results of this Premier League season, but maybe it shouldn’t have been. Liverpool have looked increasingly vulnerable as this season have gone on. Some of that has been injuries and some of it has just been basic mistakes.
Klopp’s side struggle to find passes under pressure, especially in midfield and defence. They’ve also made a habit of going down early in games. Liverpool have conceded the first goal in four of their last five home matches. This has led to them chasing games and exerting more energy than they would have otherwise. Both these trends for Liverpool are bad news going into a match against Fulham.
At their best, the Cottagers can do all the same things Crystal Palace did to upset Liverpool. The question is whether they’ll be up for it or if they’ll be content with sitting back and letting Liverpool dictate the match. Either way, we see this one being a close match.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson; Palhinha, Lukic; Iwobi, Pereira, Willian; Muniz
Liverpool: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz
