Southampton vs. Manchester United
St. Mary's Stadium, 9:30 PM, Saturday, September 14
Southampton are one of just two teams in the Premier League who have failed to earn a single point so far this season. Despite their poor start, Manchester United arguably have worse vibes going into this game than the Saints.
Man Utd were completely outclassed in Matchweek 3 against Liverpool. In week 2, against Brighton, they showed their mental fragility and gave up a last minute winner to Joao Pedro. With all this being said, I still like Man Utd to win in my EPL predictions.
The Red Devils have too much talent compared to Southampton. Additionally, Man Utd have not lost away at Southampton since 2003. The Saints have only one clean sheet in their last six matches. They may end up dominating possession, like they did in their first three matches, but I can’t see Southampton winning here.
Predicted Lineups
Southampton: Ramsdale; Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens; Sugawara, Fernandes, Downes, Aribo, Walker-Peters; Archer, Brereton-Diaz
Man Utd: Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martínez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee
Brighton vs. Ipswich Town
American Express Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
Brighton have been one of the surprise teams in the EPL so far this season. The Seagulls are undefeated through three fixtures and nearly took all three points from Arsenal just before the international break.
Ipswich, meanwhile, are having a tough time of things back in the EPL. The Tractor Boys have just one point from their first three matches, and still are among the betting sites favourites to be relegated this season.
This matchup is the first time Brighton and Ipswich have ever played each other in the Premier League. I expect Brighton to come out on top of their inaugural meeting.
The Seagulls have won and scored more than 2.5 goals in four of their last five matches. They also look much more capable dealing with counter attacks than they were last season. This should be an easy win for Brighton.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Both Teams To Score - NO | $1.95
Brighton To Score 3 Goals or More - YES | $2.20
Half With The Most Goals - 2nd Half | $1.95 |
Predicted Lineups
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, van Hecke, Dunk, Lamptey; Baleba, Wieffer; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck
Ipswich: Muric; Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Ogbene, Szmodics, Hutchinson; Delap
Crystal Palace vs. Leicester City
Selhurst Park, 12:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace headed into the international break in 16th place. In addition to only having one point through three matches, the Eagles have only scored one goal so far this season. To put it bluntly, things are not looking good for Palace. Thankfully, they are playing Leicester this week.
Outside of Jamie Vardy and loanee Facundo Buonanotte, the Foxes have been one of the most uninspiring teams in the EPL this season. I predict Palace to get their first win of the season this week.
Besides a win for the Eagles, I also like Palace to score first. Leicester have conceded the first goal in six of their last seven matches. Both teams to score is another solid bet. As much as I’ve discussed Leicester this season, they know how to come back and make things interesting late. Both teams have scored in five of the last six matches between these teams.
Predicted Lineups
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Clyne, Guehi, Richards; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Kamada, Mateta, Eza
Leicester: Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Winks, Skipp; Buonanotte, Vardy, Ayew
Fulham vs. West Ham
Craven Cottage, 12:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
While not the most high-profile London Derby of EPL Matchweek 4, this fixture could be one of the most intriguing of the entire weekend. Both clubs came into their 2024/25 campaigns with high expectations, and they both have not lived up to those expectations so far this season.
A lot of soccer betting experts predict this one to be a tough, low-scoring match. I disagree. Given the stakes, I think both Fulham and West Ham will go for it here. Neither has been the best defensively either, so I think there will be goals.
Both teams have scored in four of West Ham’s last five fixtures. Five of the Hammers’ last seven matches have featured more than 2.5 goals. Fulham have conceded at least one goal in each of their three league matches so far this season.
My EPL predictions have this one ending in a draw with both teams scoring.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Pereira, Lukic; Traore, Smith-Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
West Ham: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Kilman, Emerson; Soucek, Alvarez; Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus; Fullkrug
Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest
Anfield, 12:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
Manchester City are the only team in the Premier League who have scored more goals than Liverpool this season. Unlike Chelsea, who scored 6 in one match, Liverpool have looked dominant all season. The Reds defeated their bitter rivals Man Utd 3-0 before the international break.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, could only manage to get a 1-1 draw at home versus Wolves before the international window. Overall, Forest have been pretty good this year and have yet to lose in the league this season. I won’t complicate things here though, Liverpool should win easily on Saturday.
Arne Slot’s side have yet to concede a goal this season and have scored multiple goals in each of the matches they have played in so far. Liverpool beat Forest 3-0 in this fixture last season. My EPL predictions have something similar happening this year.
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Jota, Diaz
Nottm Forest: Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Boly, Murillo, Aina; Gibbs-White, Sangare, Anderson, Dominguez; Wood
Manchester City vs. Brentford
Etihad Stadium, 12:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
Like with most Manchester City matches, the EPL betting sites have Man City vs. Brentford as the most lopsided fixture of Matchweek 4. I agree with them. I don’t see a world where Brentford get a draw or a win here.
Man City have won their last five Premier League matches and have not lost at the Etihad in regular time since November 2022. However, that loss was against Brentford.
The Bees actually have an alright record against Man City all-time. They have won two of their last four matches against City. That’s better than most sides can say.
Man City should get the win in this one, but I’m backing Brentford to score a goal.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Man City To WIN & OVER 3.5 Goals | $2.08
OVER 3.5 Goals | $1.85 | |
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.87 |
Predicted Lineups
Man City: Ederson; Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Silva, Rodri; Foden, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland
Brentford: Flekken; Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Roerslev, Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt, Lewis-Potter; Mbeumo, Wissa
Aston Villa vs. Everton
Villa Park, 2:30 AM, Sunday, September 15
After three weeks of the 2024/24 season, Everton sit dead last in the EPL table. You can’t say they don’t deserve to be there either.
The Toffees have the second-worst xG differential in the league, meaning they give up more chances without creating their own more than all but one team in the EPL (Ipswich Town). Beyond a 15 minute stretch in the second half last week against Bournemouth, Everton have looked terrible.
Aston Villa haven’t looked like the same dominant side they were last season, but they still have more than it takes to easily beat Everton on Sunday.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
BTTS - NO & Aston Villa To WIN | $2.65
Correct Score - Aston Villa 2-0 | $7.25
Aston Villa -1 | $2.30 |
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Martinez; Bogarde, Konsa, Torrez, Digne; Onana, Tielemans; McGinn, Rogers, Ramsey; Watkins
Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Harrison, Gueye, Iroegbunam, Ndiaye; McNeil, Calvert-Lewin
Bournemouth vs. Chelsea
Vitality Stadium, 5:00 AM, Sunday, September 15
Chelsea’s up and down season continued before the international break with a 2-1 loss to Swiss side Servette in the UEFA Conference League and a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
Bournemouth before the international break, meanwhile, pulled off one of the most impressive comebacks in Premier League history. After going down 2-0, the Cherries scored three goals after the 87th minute to beat Everton 3-2.
The Cherries have lost just one of their last eight matches at home. Against an inconsistent side like Chelsea, who are dealing with drama off the pitch, this could make the difference.
However, Chelsea have plenty of talent and Bournemouth’s defence isn’t the best. The Cherries have gone five matches without keeping a clean sheet.
I’m going for a draw here, but both teams should score.
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Bournemouth vs. Chelsea - DRAW | $3.65
OVER 3.5 Goals | $2.20 | |
Double Chance - Bournemouth WIN Or DRAW | $1.77 |
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth: Travers; Smith, Zabarnyi, Huijesen, Kerkez; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson
Chelsea: Sanchez; James, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson
Tottenham vs. Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 11:00 PM, Sunday, September 15
Tottenham vs. Arsenal is by far the biggest game of EPL Matchweek 4. Unfortunately though, some of the game’s biggest names will not be able to participate.
Arsenal will be without two of their best midfielders, with Declan Rice picking up a red card against Brighton before the international break and Martin Odegaard suffering an ankle sprain with Norway.
For Spurs, forward Richarlison is expected to miss the match after picking up a muscle injury in training. However, Dominic Solanke should be ready for his return by Sunday.
The Gunners have won three of the last four North London Derbies. However, with Arsenal missing so many key players, I like Tottenham’s chances of getting at least a draw here.
If you’d rather bet on the North London Derby without picking a winner, both teams to score is another bet I like. Both Tottenham and Arsenal have scored in three of the last four NLDs.
Predicted Lineups
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven; Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Solanke
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Jorginho, Havertz; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli
Wolves vs. Newcastle
Molineux Stadium, 1:30 AM, Monday, September 16
Newcastle come into EPL Matchweek 4 with an undefeated record. Wolves have yet to win a match. Given their form, I have to go with Newcastle to win this one.
The Magpies are undefeated in their last six matches and have been the first to score in five of their last six. Gary O’Neil’s Wolves have conceded first in four of their last five matches.
Newcastle have scored in 10 straight matches against Wolves. With the sale of Max Kilman in the offseason, Wolves’ defence has gotten a lot worse since last year. They gave up six goals against Chelsea.
Eddie Howe and Newcastle should score at least two goals and get the win here.
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Semedo, Mosquera, Dawson, Toti; Gomes, Lemina; Bellegarde, Cunha, Ait-Nouri; Strand Larsen
Newcastle: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Kelly; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Gordon, Isak, Barnes
