Speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United’s embarrassing 3-0 loss to Ange Postecoglu’s Spurs on Sunday, Erik ten Hag said there is no reason to worry about the Red Devils’ slow start to the season.
We’re not sure that statement will convince Man Utd fans though. The club are in 13th place in the EPL table with just one win in their last five matches. They also dropped points to Dutch side FC Twente in the Europa League.
Erik ten Hag is currently tops the betting sites odds list as the EPL manager most likely to be sacked first this season.

“Nothing is easy”
Erik ten Hag has been Manchester United manager since 21 April 2022. One of the first things he said after his club’s terrible loss to Tottenham was that he needed more time. He echoed that sentiment this week in his Sky Sports interview.
“Nothing is easy,” he said, before stressing that he and the club need more time. With time, he says, the club can be successful this season.
“We are going to make a success from the season,” ten Hag said emphatically to start the interview.
“No reason to panic”
Nothing says we are not panicking like telling fans not to panic. That is exactly what Erik ten Hag did after promising that this year will be a successful one for the Red Devils.
“This is nothing for me to panic about,” he said, referencing Man Utd’s slow start to the season.
“We can sort (the problems) out, this team can sort this out.”
“I’m not thinking about it”
After guaranteeing that his side will improve this season, ten Hag was asked about his future and whether his job is on the line.
“I'm not thinking about it, I'm not anxious,” ten Hag explained, “We created a togetherness in the summer with the ownership and the leadership.
“We made this agreement, and we were all behind it. We know the strategy (is to bring in) young players in a transition period.
“They also know in May in all my last six seasons there were always trophies and that is what we are aiming for.”
While ten Hag is confident about his future, the EPL betting odds are not. Most soccer betting sites give ten Hag $2.25 chances of being the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League this season.
Conclusion
Erik ten Hag could be out of a job as soon as this weekend. Many outlets claim that if he does not get a good result against Aston Villa on Sunday, that he could be fired.
