After years of negotiations with multiple prospective buyers, Everton Football Club finally have a new owner. The Friedkin Group, led by American billionaire investor Dan Friedkin, have acquired 98.8% of the Toffees from controversial former owner Farhad Moshiri.
Most reports claim that Friedkin paid a little over £400 million (A$800 million) for Everton. Moshiri purchased the club for £85m in 2016 and invested hundreds of millions more pounds in the years since.

Tumultuous takeover finally over
While the EPL has just confirmed the Friedkin Group’s acquisition of Everton this week, this move has been years in the making.
The Toffees have officially been up for sale since 2023. However, other reports say Moshiri has been open to parting ways with the club since 2020, when Moshiri’s business partner Alisher Usmanov was forced out of the club due to his connections with Vladimir Putin.
Since Usmanov’s exit, Everton and Moshiri have struggled to keep up with the spending demands of the EPL.
777 Partners first stepped up to buy the club after Moshiri put the club up for sale. That offer fizzled into nothing, as did 777 Partners itself.
Dan Friedkin entered negotiations to buy Everton in September 2024. Many felt this would end like the 777 Partners bid.
The EPL’s announcement on Thursday now confirms that Friedkin’s bid for Everton was successful and that Toffee’s fans can finally have some certainty.
Dyche job on the line
Whenever a new owner comes in, they want to change things and put their people in charge. This is doubly true for Dan Friedkin.
The billionaire owner has sacked three managers at Roma since January 2024. Two of which, Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Jurić, lasted just a few months before Friedkin fired them.
In the wake of Friedkin’s purchase of Everton, Dyche has jumped to second in the next manager to be sacked betting odds list with $3.50 chances from the soccer betting sites. Only West Ham’s Julen Lopetegui has shorter odds at $1.73.
Everton relegation odds
One thing that could lead to Dyche getting the sack is if Everton get drawn back into the relegation zone. The Toffees are currently in 16th place with 15 points.
They play Chelsea in Matchweek 17. Our EPL predictions have the Blues winning convincingly. If that holds true, Everton could be pulled right back down into the relegation fight.
Thankfully for Dyche and Everton fans, it’s looking like there are at least three teams worse than them this season.
PlayUp gives four teams better odds of being relegated this season than Everton.
Conclusion
Southampton are virtual locks at this point with $1.04 chances of going down. Ipswich Town ($1.60), Leicester City ($1.65), and Wolves($1.80) are also major contenders to go down according to the betting sites.
Everton, meanwhile, have just $4.40 chances of being relegated from PlayUp, which makes them a relative long shot to go down this season.
