EPL Matchweek 11 could be the most consequential of the 2024/25 Premier League season so far. According to a report from talkSPORT, four managers are going into this weekend’s games with their jobs on the line.
The report says Wolves’ Gary O’Neil is the most likely of these four to be sacked. Southampton boss, Russell Martin, could lose his job if he doesn’t beat O’Neil’s Wolves this weekend.
Everton’s Sean Dyche and West Ham’s Julen Lopetegui are the other managers mentioned.

Four managers enter EPL Matchweek 11 on the hot seat
Gary O’Neil, Sean Dyche, Julen Lopetegui, and Russell Martin are all under pressure heading into EPL Matchweek 11
News Insights
- Wolves have not won an EPL match since April.
- Everton’s new owner complicates Dyche’s job security.
- Wolves vs. Southampton is a “must win” match for both teams.
- West Ham enter Matchweek 11 in 14th place.
'El Sackico' matches on Saturday
If the talkSPORT report is true, we are in a strange situation where two matches this weekend could decide the future of four managers.
Gary O’Neil’s Wolves take on Russell Martin Southampton’s, while Sean Dyche and Everton head to London to play Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham.
According to the EPL betting odds, O’Neil is the most likely to win this weekend. PlayUp gives Wolves $1.95 chances of beating Southampton on Saturday.
West Ham, the other favourite this weekend, have $2.15 odds of beating Everton at the London Stadium.
Time running out
It would be shocking to two managers sacked in one weekend. When you look at the timing though, it’s believable.
For one, right before an international break is always an ideal time to sack a manager since it gives the new boss more time to bed in before their first competitive match than if you were to sack a manager at another time.
Another major issue is that we are 10 weeks into the season. Recent seasons have shown us that where a team is in the table after Matchweek 10 is more or less where they will finish at the end of the season.
Two of the three teams who were relegated last season were in the relegation zone after Matchweek 10.
Sacking a manager now could be the last chance some of these clubs have to turn things around before it’s too late.
Lopetegui leads betting odds
While Gary O’Neil and Russell Martin sit at the bottom of the EPL table, West Ham’s Julen Lopetegui is actually on top of the next Premier League manager to be sacked betting odds.
Most betting sites give the former Real Madrid boss $2.75 chances of being the next EPL manager to leave his post. Some international betting sites have his odds as low as $2.45.
Those same sites give Martin $3.25 chances of being the next manager to lose his job. O’Neil’s odds are $3.75, while Dyche sits comfortably at $26.
Conclusion
We tend to agree with the soccer betting odds here. It would be a shock to see Dyche sacked first out of these four. However, Everton’s new owner Dan Friedkin is no stranger to firing managers, so who knows, it might be worth taking a flyer on Dyche to go.
