The Harry Kane transfer saga is seemingly coming to an end. Reports from North London claim the 30-year-old striker has set a strict deadline for this Sunday.
Bayern are expected to meet this deadline and submit a fourth bid worth £94.6m ($184.5m AUD) for the England striker.
There is no indication of whether Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy is willing to accept this offer. It is slightly less than the club’s reported £100m asking price.
Decision must be made before Brentford game
The German transfer window does not slam shut until Friday, September 1. Normally, this would be the true deadline for Bayern to sign Harry Kane. However, Kane would like to have his immediate future sorted before Spurs’ first game against Brentford this Sunday.
The Tottenham legend only has one year left on his Tottenham contract, so Kane is reportedly calm regarding his future, even though it is well-known Bayern is his preferred transfer destination.
Transfer likely as Bayern to bid £94.6m for Kane
Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy has placed a £100m transfer price tag on Harry Kane. Levy is known as a tough negotiator, so when Bayern bid well short of £100m with their first three bids, many expected that Kane would not be leaving Tottenham any time soon. That belief seems to be changing thanks to the news of Bayern’s newest bid.
Most recent reports claim Bayern are preparing a fourth and final bid worth £94.6m for Harry Kane. While there are no concrete reports about how Tottenham and Levy will respond to this offer, most of the best betting sites seem to think the deal is virtually done.
For example, bet365 says Kane has nearly the same chance of staying at Spurs as he does of going to Bayern. bet365 is offering 1.80 odds on bets that Kane will be a Tottenham player on September 3, 2023. The same bet for Kane being at Bayern in September is offered at 2.00 odds.
bet365 is also offering bets on Paris Saint-Germain (26.00), Manchester United (26.00), Real Madrid (34.00), and several other clubs as possible destinations for Harry Kane.
Kane transfer could derail Tottenham season
Part of the reason Kane wants a deal to be done so quickly is that he wants Tottenham to have enough time to find his replacement.
If Kane were to leave right now and Spurs did not replace him, the club would be left with Richarlison as the only striker on the books. Richarlison has shown flashes, but has largely been disappointing for Spurs, so getting a replacement for Kane is essential for Tottenham.
Even with Kane, most soccer betting sites are not very hot on Tottenham this season. bet365 puts Spurs firmly outside the top 4 with six teams having better odds than Spurs’ 4.33 odds to qualify for the Champions League. Similarly, Unibet has put Spurs season points total over/under at just 61.5 points. Last year, 62 points was just enough to finish 6th in the Premier League.
Whether Kane stays on at Tottenham is key to whether Spurs have a good season or whether they fall short of their lofty goals yet again.
