Saturday Racing Tips Sunshine Coast 25/01/25

Our Saturday horse racing tips will come from the Sunshine Coast track this weekend. There are some good fields for a string of handicaps. They should produce plenty of interest on the betting sites as they look to have some quality to them, even if the levels are not strong on paper. We have looked over the 10 races on the afternoon to pick out what we believe to be the three strongest tips for the day. Let’s get stuck into the action.

BEST BET - #8 Cosmo Centaurus - (BEST BET)
Has only had a single start but he made a fine impression when saluting over this track and distance back in August. He is fresh again now but that should not be a problem, kicking off his handicapping career. That was a nine-runner race, with six of his eight rivals winning since and one of the two that hasn’t has only failed to do so because they have not raced! As a form guide, it has been shown to be of a good level. His rating of 60 looks on the light side judged on that win and as long as he is in similar heart again, he is going to be very hard to stop.

THE DANGER - #1 Spyware
Has struggled in the last year, winning two of his first four starts but failing to get into the places in four since. In his defence, he has been pitched in considerably deeper than this level so the return to this grade should see him in a much better light. He is a class act in this contest and while he probably would not want to see the underfoot conditions get any softer than they currently are, he looks like the one who is going to give the best bet the most to think about.

VALUE BET - #5 Belegato
Has done well at a lower level so far this season, winning twice over this track and distance. The most recent of those was last Friday so he is backed up quickly after saluting. His connections gave him plenty of time to mature, not racing between January and November last year. That appears to have done him plenty of good, maturing into a solid performer. He is going to be requiring another step forward in terms of effort in this much deeper race but he appears to have found a track he likes so he may well do so.

Sunshine Coast Race 6 - The iX1 Coastline BMW Handicap (1000m)

BEST BET - #14 Termagant
Things did not work out well for her on her most recent start at this track. She was being very difficult down at the start on that occasion and then found a little bit of trouble in the race as well. A mare can generally be forgiven for one bad run and that is the only one that she has had in her six-race career to this point. She boasts three wins and two runner-up efforts, including a close second last time out at Eagle Farm. She has a win and two seconds when first-up but she is a perfect 2/2 second-up as she is now.

THE DANGER - #13 Wild Botanica
Is 0/7 when running fresh as she was last time out. To her credit, she was running well on that occasion before she got badly hampered. Never had a hope of getting involved after that so it was sensible for her to be pulled up late on there. She was travelling very strongly at that point and she has two wins and a second in five starts when she has been second-up. That run has to go down as a very promising one and she should be ready to make a strong challenge for the prize.

VALUE BET - #3 Saltaire
Is not one to be placing bets on to win given that she has a record of 1/17. She has managed to pick up five second-place finishes and three thirds as well so she is a good pick to place into the exotics. She has a win and a third in three runs over this distance so this is a good spot for her. She has run in a Listed race and a Bm 90 in her last three starts so this is going to be much easier at Bm 78 level.

Sunshine Coast Race 7 - The 3. Coastline BMW Handicap (1200m)

BEST BET - #12 Streak Of Winning - (BEST BET)
Okay, not a true roughie price but this is the first time that we have put our roughie on top in a race. He has won both career starts to this point, still thoroughly unexposed compared to his rivals. There are only a few who have had a single-figure amount of runs so far in their careers with most being exposed enough. Both runs have come at this track, the runner-up in the first of those winning on Monday to frank the form. Worse off with Winsome Star from their run on Boxing Day but can step up again.

THE DANGER - #10 Rimbaud
Has not been seen since August but has done well first-up in the past. He has a win and two third-place finishes when he has been fresh so this could be a good time to catch him. Has form on soft ground, only finishing out of the first three once in five starts so far in his career. Two starts at this track have seen him finish second and third while he has a win and a third in a pair of starts in this grade. It all adds up to him having a strong chance in this race.

VALUE BET - #11 Winsome Star
At the weights, he must hold strong claims of reversing form with Streak Of Winning from their run over track and distance last time out. He has only saluted once in 15 career starts so that suggests that he might still find at least one too good. Has filled the runner-up spot in five races and that might be the best that he is able to hope for again. His only prior run at this track was a win so he should be well in the mix again when the medals are handed out.

Eight rides on the afternoon for Orman who will be liking his chances of leaving the Sunshine Coast track after a winner or two. He has three or four who could be sent off as the favourites with the horse racing bookmakers.
