Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | March 2nd

There are some short prices on Saturday at Randwick, but they are those odds for a reason, with them expected to salute.

It is a fascinating card at Randwick on Saturday with some top-notch performers in action. They include potentially the best two-year-old in the country in Storm Boy, though his price on the betting sites means that he is a little too short to join our multibet.

Randwick R2 #3 - Our Kobison $2.00

He is rock-hard fit now that he is on the 4th start of his prep, winning his last two at Rosehill. He was hugely impressive last time out, saluting in a BM88 over 1200m by 3.24 lengths. That is not an easy thing to do in a handicap sprint and smacks of a horse still on his way up. This is a BM84, but he takes on slightly stronger rivals here than he did at Rosehill. The step up to 1200m last time was a clear career-best, and after eight starts in his life, there should still be plenty of progression from him.

Randwick R6 #1 - Manaal $2.20

Storm Boy is the big player in the two-year-old race for the boys on the card, and Manaal is his slightly longer-priced equivalent in the fillies contest. She came to hand early on, winning the Gimcrack at this track over 1000m in September. Was no match for Lady Of Camelot in the Widden on her only other start, but that filly is a very smart one for the Waterhouse/Bott team, and there was no disgrace in that defeat. He ought to strip fitter for that run and can prove too good.

Randwick R7 #9 - Fangirl $1.55

Plenty of racing fans are calling this mare the top racehorse in the country. That is a big claim, as there are some other real stars in action, but she is without question in the top five. 1600m here is a perfect trip for her, and there should be a good pace to chase from Just Fine, who will want to make this a test at the trip, given he stays further. Fangirl has the outside barrier, but as a hold-up performer, that should not cause any inconvenience to her.

Stats and Insights

  • Randwick is a big galloping track of over 2200m around with an uphill straight of 410m.
  • Fangirl is 3/6 this season and 3/4 at Randwick, her only defeat in the 7 Stakes.
  • 1000m and 1800m are the distances where the inside barriers are most important.
  • James McDonald is 2/2 on Our Kobison with an excellent record when riding for Angela Davies.

They are three very short prices on Saturday, and that is without Storm Boy in the Skyline Stakes, for which he is about a $1.30 favourite with the horse racing bookmakers. Those looking for a higher price could add him as a 4th or even Olentia in Race 9, who narrowly missed the cut.
