Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | May 4th

There is a string of very competitive handicaps on the 10-race card at Caulfield on Saturday where we have our multibet.

For the second week in a row, we head to Caulfield for our Multibet. One of the winners that we tipped up last week is back out again in our picks, we have one who has an 80% strike rate in her career so far as well as a runner who only found a subsequent Group 1 winner too strong last time out.

Caulfield R2 #1 - Mawallock $1.80

Has not raced since October but she has done well when fresh, 2/2 first up and 2/2 second up, the only defeat in her career so far came when she was third up so that long break is not a concern. There should be more to come from her given the limited racing that she has had, looking very progressive when she has been seen on the track so far. She has done her winning by fair margins as well which further adds to the suspicion that she is a smart type in the making.

Caulfield R6 #2 - Grinzinger Belle $4.20

A Group 3 winner over this trip at Flemington in February, her last two starts have seen her just run out of stamina late on over 1600m. Back to 1400m here should be a big plus but the 1600m runs were in a Group 2 and a Group 3, the most recent of which saw her finish second to Vibrant Sun. That filly won the Australasian Oaks last weekend which shows the strong level of form that this filly brings to the table. She has an unbeaten one in against her but that is priced on potential rather than the strength of form in the book.

Caulfield R9 #1 - Berkeley Square $3.40

Was a winner for us in the multibet at Caulfield last week and he can go in again this Saturday now that he has that confidence-boosting win under his belt. That was a drop in grade compared to the horses that he was butting heads with earlier in this prep but he has the class to take on that type of rival. This looks like another solid opportunity for him to get his head in front once more.

Stats and Insights

  • Caulfield’s bends sit at a 5% bank to encourage draining and to help the horses to corner safely.
  • Danny O’Brien and Liam Riordan have a 20% strike rate when they combine this season. They team up with Grinzinger Belle in race six.
  • Inside barriers tend to be superior at Caulfield.
  • It can be hard to make up ground at the track so on pace horses are favoured.

It is a competitive card at Caulfield this week which has given the odds a bit of a boost in our multibet. There is still plenty of quality on show and we are hoping that the top horses do the business against the horse racing bookmakers on the day.
