Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | September 7th

There are some genuine stars on show at Randwick this weekend so the betting sites should be buzzing with action. With three Group 2 races, a Group 3 and a Listed contest during the afternoon, there is plenty to get stuck into.

Randwick R4 #6 - Strathtay $2.20

This is a tougher level now that he steps up into Listed company but he looks ready for the rise in class. He was an impressive winner of a race over track and distance last time out, readily pulling a couple of lengths clear. Until that point, he had looked like a horse who needed some cut in the ground but he showed that he is just as capable on a good surface which is a big plus for his chance here. He is 2/3 at this track as well as 2/3 when Jay Ford is in the saddle.

Randwick R6 #1 - Manaal $2.70

Perhaps a touch disappointing that she was turned over in the Silver Shadow over this track and trip on her most recent outing. She was not beaten far but she had looked a class apart on paper beforehand. It is probably worth giving her another chance at the same level, especially without quite so much weight to carry on this occasion. She enjoys racing at his track with three wins in five visits and was a winner the only time she has been second up.

Randwick R8 #10 - Zardozi $2.20

Has a modest first-up record so it was no surprise that she didn’t really figure in the Winx Stakes on her first run this prep. That said, she was beaten less than two and a half lengths in a Group 1 so she was far from disgraced. She has won two of three when second up and although she would ideally prefer another couple of hundred metres, she looks to have a strong chance at the weights in this Group 2 contest, receiving weight all around.

Stats and Insights

  • Randwick is a good test of stamina, more than 2200m around and with an uphill run for home.
  • James McDonald is 5/15 so far this season at Randwick. He is riding Zardozi, our final multibet leg.
  • It is the middle distance races from 1800-2200m that see the inside barriers have more of an advantage than the sprints.
  • Chris Waller has had nine more winners than any other trainer at Randwick over the last 12 months. He saddles our first leg, Strathtay.

Saturday’s card at Randwick has a really strong look about it. It was hard not to have a go at the Giga Kick return but the horse racing bookmakers have left very little meat on the bones with his odds so we left him out of our multibet.
