Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | October 21st

We have three horses picked out at Randwick on Saturday afternoon, which combine to make our Multibet for this weekend.

Another visit to Randwick on a Saturday, this time with our multibet selections. Some potentially smart types on show have not had much racing. This makes the card exciting when looking for the future to take on the horse racing bookmakers.

Randwick R4 #6 - Marquess $2.20

The first of two for Godolphin and James Cummings in this week’s multibet, we hope they enjoy an excellent Saturday afternoon. It took a few runs for the game to click in the gelding’s head, but he’s taken off once it did. He has five wins from his last six starts and was a touch unlucky not to be unbeaten in those, as his one defeat (when finishing second) saw the tempo of the race against him, running on strongly to close the winner down to less than half a length at the line.

Randwick R5 #12 - Commemorative $2.00

Just a single start for this Godolphin three-year-old. She won a Canterbury maiden in June but did so by almost five lengths, running riot and looking a very smart prospect. A Benchmark 78 handicap is a solid place for her to kick off this preparation, with the level of opposition not as challenging as those she is likely to take on sooner rather than later. Perhaps a softer surface will be ideal in the long run as her dam relished deep ground, but her potential makes her the pick.

Randwick R7 #1 - Cepheus $3.60

He has to give a lot of weight away all around, but he has been flying so far this prep. His last two wins have come at Group 2 level over trips that are arguably short of his best. He is back up in distance slightly to 1600m here, and that is undoubtedly a plus for him, with another excellent barrier to work from. His form at that deeper level makes him the one to beat here. The main danger is the progressive Unspoken, but that rival has not taken on an opponent close to the class of Cepheus yet, so he is swimming in far deeper waters now.

Stats and Insights

  • Randwick is a fair track with a 410m run from the home turn to the winning line.
  • Inside draws are marginally favoured.
  • 41% of the runners James Cummings has sent to Randwick in his career (1000+ runners) have finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd. He is responsible for the first two legs of the multi.
  • Matthew Dunn has a 65% ROI on his runners at Randwick so far this season. He trains Cepheus.

After the excitement of the Everest last week, this Saturday’s card is a bit of a comedown, but there is still some solid racing on offer, and we believe that we have found three runners on the card who hold the strongest chances from the ten races on offer.
