EPL: Pressure mounts on Lampard as Chelsea looks to end winless run against Arsenal

Despite being the reigning champions of the Champions League, Chelsea FC has been unable to secure a win in their last 8 games. The recent changes in management have seemingly affected the team's performance, and following a recent match, the caretaker manager, Frank Lampard, spoke about the team's need for confidence and motivation. With an upcoming London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea, the Gunners are considered to be the overwhelming favourites.

Too Many Managers

With no wins in their last 8 games, Chelsea are having a season to forget. The 2021 Champions League champions are in a rut, and the new owner Todd Boehly can understand the frustration from the fans. After sacking Thomas Tuchel, the manager who led them to lifting the Champions League trophy back in 2021, the inexperienced Graham Potter took over and after poor results including 11 losses, 8 draws and only 12 wins in 31 matches, he too, was sacked.

Frank Lampard, Chelsea legend has taken over as caretaker manager and has 0 wins in 5 games, taking their season from bad to worse.

Lampard: "I feel for the players"

Playup had Chelsea as favourites against Brentford, with odds $1.66 and $5.00 respectively. Although, at home, Chelsea lost 2-0 to the immense underdogs. This made for a very interesting post-game press conference. “I feel for the players” Lampard stated as after a long hard season, they are all short on confidence and motivation.

He followed this by highlighting the importance of confidence and motivation “With 20% more confidence, we win the game” and “They have to be motivated”. Lampard played a big role as a player in Chelsea’s most successful era and can’t understand with fans frustrations’, as he had “No problem with the fans booing” .

The London Derby

Arsenal vs Chelsea is to be played this weekend at the Emirates Stadium, which was once a tale of 2 giants, looks to be a whitewash as Arsenal are the overwhelming favourites. Playup have favoured Arsenal with $1.65 odds and given Chelsea the underdog odds at $4.85. Despite Arsenal losing against the title favourites Manchester City, who are now $1.07 on BoomBet, Arsenal have had a successful season and seen as easy favourites for the derby against a leaky defence and a lifeless attack in Chelsea.
