Man City wonderkid breaks bone in leg ahead of EPL opener vs. Chelsea

Norwegian and Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb is set to miss the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season after breaking a bone in his leg.  
 
According to ESPN, the 21-year-old suffered the injury during training on Wednesday. No other player was involved in the action that caused his injury. 
 
Besides Bobb, Pep Guardiola will have his full squad at his disposal for the Chelsea vs. Manchester City match on Sunday (Monday morning AEST).  

Major blow for young winger 

Oscar Bobb is one of the hottest young players in the Premier League coming into the 2024/25 season.  
 
The Norwegian international became a first team regular for Manchester City last season. Bobb played 26 games across all competitions for the Sky Blues last season. He also scored a very important goal for City in the 91st minute of a league match against Newcastle to secure a 3-2 win for his club.  
 
Bobb kept his place in Man City’s first team and played in each of the club’s preseason fixtures. He scored two goals and had three assists in four preseason matches. Bobb also assisted Bernardo Silva’s 89th minute equalizer against Manchester United in the Community Shield last weekend.  
 
These strong preseason performances made it appear like Bobb was primed to become a key member of Manchester City’s first-team squad. After his injury though, we’ll have to wait to see if Bobb has what it takes to become a star for the Premier League champions.  

Chelsea vs. Man City preview 

Bobb is the only City player expected to miss the upcoming Chelsea vs. Man City match on Sunday. The winger’s injury doesn’t really affect the betting odds either.  
 
Manchester City are big favourites to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Some betting sites give the Blues a better chance because they are playing at home. We can’t see Chelsea getting a win though.
