News Insights

  • Man Utd decided to not fire ten Hag before the international break.
  • Another bad result could cause Man Utd to change their mind.
  • Man Utd could fire ten Hag this weekend if the club lose to Brentford.
  • Ten Hag has been with Man Utd since April 2022.

One of the biggest stories in soccer before the international break was that Manchester United owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer Family held in-person meetings in London to discuss the future of Erik ten Hag. The billionaires decided to keep the Dutchman around, but not for much longer apparently.

A report from the Daily Mail claims that Manchester United could fire Erik ten Hag this weekend if the Red Devils lose to Brentford on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag job on the line

Erik ten Hag has been Manchester United manager since April 2022. In that time, the Red Devils have lifted the EFL and FA Cup trophies. In the Premier League and in continental competitions though, the club has been dreadful.

Because the Red Devils have been so poor for long under ten Hag, many fans have long called for Man Utd to fire ten Hag. Those fans may finally get their wish this weekend if the club loses to Brentford.

A loss “could see Ten Hag sacked” says the bombshell Daily Mail report.

Manchester United vs. Brentford preview

While many Man Utd fans may secretly be hoping for a loss this weekend, the soccer betting sites predict the Red Devils will win this match.

PlayUp gives Man Utd $1.65 chances to win, making them strong favourites. Brentford have $4.40 odds to win and are -1.5 goal underdogs.

The EPL betting odds have been wrong before though. Brentford famously beat Man Utd 4-0 in 2022. Since then, the Bees have failed to beat Man Utd in three attempts.

Potential Erik ten Hag replacements

With Mauricio Pochettino joining the United States national team and Thomas Tuchel taking the England job, there are not many high-profile names who could replace Erik ten Hag right now.

The club reportedly identified Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness to replace the Dutchman in the offseason, but the Bundesliga manager turned the Red Devils down.

According to the betting sites, Ruud Van Nistelrooy is the most likely man to take over for ten Hag. The former Man Utd striker leads the next Manchester United manager odds list with $4 chances from bet365.

Gareth Southgate is next on the list at $5. He’s followed by Michael Carrick ($7), Kieran McKenna ($7.50), and former Brighton boss Graham Potter ($13).

Conclusion

If ten Hag is fired this weekend, these odds are sure to change and new contenders will emerge. Until then, our eyes will be on Man Utd vs. Brentford this weekend.
