NBA Tips and Multi bet of the Weekend| Dec 14-16

It’s been a quiet week in the NBA, with the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup taking centre stage and resulting in a lot less games than we would normally be treated to. But Saturday will see a regular slate return, with eight games set to take place over the course of the day and plenty of value to be found as a result. Our weekend multi tips off with a player prop in the likely one-sided Wizards vs Cavaliers game and ends with another centred on Nikola Jokic, while we hone in on the struggling Lakers in between. Take a look at all of our reasoning below.

Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Bilal Coulibaly under 10.5 points | $1.88 with PlayUp

Bilal Coulibaly has plenty of potential as a two-way player, with the former teammate of Victor Wembanyama having risen rapidly up the draft board prior to the 2023 draft to ultimately be taken at pick 7 by the Wizards. But offensively, he still has some way to go, and has only very rarely been passing the line set by betting agencies for him in this game. 10.5 points is not a whole lot and the Frenchman flew past it in his last game with 17 points, but that was an anomaly in a set of games otherwise filled with single-digit performances. In fact, prior to that game Coulibaly had not scored more than eight points for six games in a row, and had averaged just 5.2 points per game in that time. Incredibly, in that time he went just 9-51 from the field, at a rate of only 17.6%. Evidently he did bounce back last game, but now he is faced with a really difficult challenge against one of the best teams in the league in the Cavaliers. The Cavs are solid defensively, boasting the 10th best defensive rating in the game, but perhaps even more importantly they are also the best offensive team in the business so far in 2024-25, and as a result should be absolutely destroying the Wizards. The line for this game is set at a massive 17.5, so clearly a blowout is very much on the cards – and we all know what that means. It’s unlikely that this game will still be in the balance in the final quarter, so we can expect the starters, of which Coulibaly is one, to spend much of that quarter on the bench. Already he has been struggling to get past this number far more often than not, so add in the fact that he will likely play reduced minutes and is coming up against a strong defensive team, and you have a recipe for another single-digit scoring game for Coulibaly.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Lakers under 103.5 total match points | $1.88 with QuestBet

The Timberwolves were the best defensive team in the league last season by some margin, but they have for the most part failed to recapture that identity in season 2024-25 – defensively they have been solid, but far from outstanding. But there is no reason they can’t, and over the last few games they have begun to show some strong signs that the identity which made them such a dangerous team last season is returning. Over that period they have been unbelievable defensively, conceding an average of less than 90 points per game and boasting a ridiculous defensive rating of 93.8 – more than 10 better than any other team over that time. The Lakers, meanwhile, are really struggling offensively. In that same five game period they have the third worst offensive rating in the league, sitting at just 103.8, and making matters worse they will be without LeBron James for the second game in a row for this one. Incidentally, these two played one another within that five-game span, and the Lakers put up a measly 80 points in that game. Without LeBron they will be something of a ship without a rudder in this game, and as good as Davis is he benefits greatly from having a quality ball-handler alongside him to get him looks – he is not going to pull 30 points out of his pocket on his own. Basically, this is a game between a team that has been by far the best defensively in the league over recent games, coming up against an opposition which has been among the worst offensively in that some time period – and which will be without it’s primary facilitator at that. That does not bode well for the Lakers’ ability to put up a score, and even though the 103.5-point line set by betting sites is relatively low, the Timberwolves should be able to keep the Lakers comfortably below it.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Denver Nuggets

Nikola Jokic to score 40+ points | $4.00 with Unibet

He couldn’t do it again, could he? There are plenty of things that Nikola Jokic does that prior to, well, Nikola Jokic, would have been considered impossible. The man is averaging 32-13-10 for goodness sake, and is shooting 56% from the field and hitting more than half of his three-point attempts. And of course, last weekend he took it to another level entirely. It began when he put up 56 points against an admittedly measly Wizards team, going 22-38 from the field and also grabbing 16 boards and dishing out 8 assists. The next day, he backed it up against the Hawks with 48 points on 17-29 shooting, complementing that number with 14 boards and 8 assists. The Clippers will provide a much sterner defensive test for the runaway MVP favourite, but it’s rare for him to come across a defensive challenge that he is unable to overcome. Jokic has a tendency to go through patches where he scores really heavily and doesn’t assist that often, and patches where he does not look to score quite as aggressively but dishes out a huge number of dimes. At the minute he is doing a little bit of both, but clearly over those past couple of games his focus has been on scoring, and doing it with remarkable efficiency. When Jokic decides to take over a game there is very little that an opposing team can do to stop it, and he is a man on a mission of late. 40 is a hell of a lot of points, but given he has put up 56 and 48 in his past two games, the $4 that is on offer with some NBA betting sites looks like a pretty reasonable number.
