Which are the Best NRL Betting Sites?
There are a number of different bookmakers who could claim to be among the best NRL betting sites: some young, some old; some big, some small; some Australian-owned, others global companies. In this section, we’ll take a look at some of the best options available, and what puts them ahead of so many of their peers.
PlayUp is one relatively new brand which has very rapidly become a popular choice for many Australian punters. They excel with an easy-to-use website, a fantastic 24/7 customer service platform, as well as a wide range of markets and decent odds; including on NRL. Plenty to bet on, good odds and a great platform from which to do it make this a great NRL betting site.
WinnersBet is another new kid on the block, having joined the Australian betting industry even more recently than PlayUp. They still have some work to do in a number of key areas, but what they’ve focused on they do well; which includes their high quality website and decent markets on the sports that they do offer. This list of sports isn’t super extensive, but the NRL is included among it, which helps them to earn a spot among our best NRL betting sites.
BoomBet is the recently rebranded version of Sportsbetting, which was a long-standing bookmaker in Australia. They excel in their fixed sports odds, which unsurprisingly includes the biggest rugby league code in Australia and indeed the world moreover. They also have a solid array of NRL betting markets, making them among the best choice to bet with for NRL punters.
Bet365 is another high-quality option for NRL betting, but unlike a couple of its aforementioned competitors, this is a global betting giant that has been around for decades. Bet365 does plenty right, but perhaps their most notable trait is the enormous selection of markets that they offer and the great odds you can find on these markets. This means that for NRL bettors, there are plenty of reasons to use Bet365.
Finally, Palmerbet is another quality bookmaker in Australia, and one which has been around for many years. They tend to fly under the radar a little, but there’s not a lot that they don’t do well; they have great markets and odds, a good website and app, and helpful customer service. All of this combines to make them a popular betting choice for many different sports, including the NRL.
NRL Popular Bets
There are a range of popular betting options for punting options on the NRL. Some punters prefer to bet each week, match-by-match to predict every match of the season, whilst other punters prefer to spend their hard-earned cash on specials and futures betting like outrights on State of Origin Winners, Top 4, Top 8 or NRL Premiership Winners Odds.
Let’s examine some of the most popular Rugby League betting types;
Head-to-Head: Head-to-Head match betting is the easiest way have a punt on the NRL. Simply bet on which team you believe will win any particular match and your choice of team wins, so do you! When it comes to what bookmakers generally have the best odds for h2h NRL betting, most are normally very similar, and you shouldn’t worry too much about looking for the best odds as it would only be a few cents difference.
Line Betting: NRL Line betting is when the online betting site handicaps one of the two NRL teams in a match by setting a specific margin to balance the game evenly between the two teams taking part. For example, if the online bookie believes Parramatta is a 6-point better team than West Tigers, they will handicap the Eels by -6 points. The line then becomes the Eels to beat West Tigers by more than 6 points or West Tigers to come within 6 points of Parramatta (+6 for West Tigers), which generally results in betting odds of $1.90 to $1.91 for each team. When it comes to line betting, it is very important to have the best line and odds in the long run, as the difference between a+5.5 line and a +6.5 line could be the difference if you win or lose.
- Topsport has best odds for favourite lines overall, Bet365 close 2nd.
- Playup has best odds for underdog lines overall
- All odds are very similar only difference is sometimes a 5.5 line compared to 6.5 and the overall edge they take (1.9 v 1.9 vs 1.92 v 1.92).
- No Difference in terms of home/away teams for all betting sites
First Try Scorer: Choose which Player or which team will score the first try of any NRL match. On markets like this, there can be some massive price discrepancies between bookmakers, one might have 10 odds while another might have 13 for the exact same player. This means in this example that you would make 3x your stake MORE if you place your bet on the bookmaker with the best odds.
- After comparing the first try scorer odds between betting sites, it doesn’t seem like there is any pattern in terms of who has the better odds, but rather it rotates between bookmakers depending on the player so it would always be best to search on all your available bookmakers when taking this market so you can get more value for your money.
Anytime Try Scorer: Probably one of the more common markets for punters like yourself to chuck in your same game multi or just to take as a single. Normally odds are way worse than first try scorer, which is understandable. Important to look around different bookmakers to find the best price (can sometimes be up to 2-3 odds price difference depending on the odds)
- Topsport normally good for low odd try scorers being wingers and centres
- Small non-corp bookmakers a lot better for high odd try scorers being forwards (Palmerbet, Winnersbet, Playup)
NRL Top 4 or Top 8 betting: Bet on your favourite or preferred team to finish inside the Top 4 or Top 8. The best odds for this type of futures markets are usually available before the season begins or as early in the season as possible.
- After a comparison of NRL top 4 betting, Palmerbet have the best current odds for most teams above the 3 odd range, with bet365 and Picklebet having the best low odd teams being panthers, storm, eels and sharks.
- After a comparison of the NRL top 8 betting, PickleBet have the best consistant odds, however, for teams such as Dragons, Warriors, Raiders and Titans – PickleBetand PickleBet should be the go to!
Outright Futures Betting on the NRL Grand Final Winner: Like Top 4 or Top 8 betting, the best odds available for an NRL Grand Final Winner is usually available before the season begins or as early as possible during the season. The closer to the match, the odds will decrease. A comparison shows that for teams such as Panthers, Storm, Eels and Sharks Picklebet would offer the best odds. As you get higher odds there are many more discrepancies, Palmerbet has the highest odds for Rabbitohs by 3 odds (26 vs 23), whilst also maintaining the highest roosters and Cowboys odds. Overall, for the lower odd teams Picklebet is your way to go, as you move up in odds 10-101 Palmerbet is your way to go. For all very large odds >100, Unibet is your way to go!
State of Origin Betting: State of Origin Match betting, or betting on the series winner are always some of the most popular NRL bets each season. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our State of Origin Rugby League Betting Preview before the series begins.
Betting options that Beginners should avoid
Beginner NRL bettors should remember that you need to walk before you can run.
Beginners should first become comfortable with match betting week in/week out (head-to-head, line betting, first try scorers etc.) and season futures betting before getting with more complex bet types. Some bet types beginners should avoid until mastering NRL betting are:
- Totals Betting – Picking over/under a total number of points for each game is fraught with risk and requires an in-depth knowledge of the NRL teams involved.
- Multis – Multis, sometimes referred to as accumulator or parlay betting are for the experienced only. Multis are an accumulated number of bets taken over a selection of NRL matches. Odds accumulate just like compound interest with each successful winning leg of the multi, delivering huge wins if all legs of the bet end up being successful. However, lose just one leg and your multi bet is lost. Be sure to be on the alert for ‘win your multi, if you lose only 1 leg’ promotions run by your favourite online bookies, if you are a beginner wanting to try a small multi to gain experience.
- Top Points Scorer (whole season) – Choosing the top points scorer, either overall or for a particular club is always going to be a tough task. Possibly, for smaller teams with big superstars this can be alot less challenging, although normally this type of market is not suitable for beginner bettors. Only those with experience in the sport
- Top Try Scorer (whole season) – Similar with top point scorer, the top try scorer as a whole or for specific teams is a challenging ask, although not as tough as top point scorer. This is due to mainly some sort of wingers score the most tries for a teams, but tires mixed with conversions allow for more room for error.
NRL Betting Sites FAQs
Can I also bet on the NRLW (Women’s) competition?
You sure can! The NRL Womens is growing from strength to strength each year with new teams and a massive audience. It now has a total of 10 teams since creating the league in 2018 with just 4 teams. At the moment, you have the Broncos, Raiders, Sharks, Titans, Knights, Cowboys, Eels, Dragons, Roosters and Tigers. The Knights are the most successful team with 2 premierships. During the season and finals, you can find markets at leading Australian NRL betting sites. The season ends on NRL Grand Final day before the Men’s GF, usually in late September / October.
Can I also place bets on the English Super League matches?
Yes. All of the NRL betting sites we recommend also feature betting on all English Super League matches where many former Aussie NRL players are now superstars all over again.
Who are the Dolphins?
The Dolphins are the newest NRL team that joined the comp in 2023. They are coached by the legendary Wayne Bennett and they’re based in Redcliffe, QLD. In their first season, they finished 13th on the ladder and pulled off plenty of upsets. They defeated the Roosters 28-18 in what was their first ever NRL appearance. In fact, they started the season with 3 straight wins. However, as with any new team, they struggled in the latter stages of the season with injuries and depth. But that should only improve in 2024. They’re also sponsored by BlueBet Australia.
What are the NRL rule changes for 2024?
Currently, one of the major NRL rule changes for 2024 is;
- Removing penalties for failed goal-line drop outs and kick-offs
Will a Women’s State of Origin match be featured again in 2024?
Yes, in fact, there will be 3 games in 2024 to align with the Men’s SOO. The first game will be played at Suncorp in mid-May. Next, the two sides will face off in Newcastle, NSW on the 6th of June. The decider will take place in Townsville and hopefully both sides are 1-1 after the first two games to make the last game even more enticing.
NRL betting strategy
There is no one single way to ensure that your NRL Betting will be successful. Bet as early as possible in futures markets such as the NRL Premiership winners betting market will always ensure you get the best odds available.
However, most importantly, you should try to keep yourself informed and checking out regular weekly Rugby League Betting Preview will go a long way to closing the ‘luck’ gap.
The other great help to ensuring your success will be to keep personal bias out of betting decisions. Betting against the Roosters just because you don’t like the boys from Bondi Junction won’t cut the mustard of smart NRL betting.
By doing as much as possible (with as little work involved of course – it is supposed to be fun after all!) to turn your Rugby League betting into something more resembling science rather than blind luck is your best pathway to success.
Bet to the level of your experience, check out our weekly reviews for first-hand expert advice and above all, enjoy your own personal journey of becoming an expert yourself rather than just being a punter, depending on luck – good or bad.
Less Gambling, More Science should be your goal.

NRL Betting Sites Live Streaming
For several years, many of Australia’s best online betting sites (such as Be365 or Unibet) offered live streaming of NRL matches, the State of Origin and International Rugby League Test matches.
However, following an exclusive agreement between the NRL and live streaming company, Kayo, online bookmakers are now no longer able to offer NRL live-streaming services to their signed-up members. Should that change in the future, we shall let you know ASAP.
If you are interested in the live streaming of other sports as a signed-up member of an online betting site, Bet365 and Unibet are the two best online bookmakers in Australia offering live-streaming across a range of sports such as NBA, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, horse racing, greyhounds and much more. Both usually have a live stream program schedule to consult for all the latest streams on offer.
NRL Betting Sites In-play Betting
Due to Australian Law, live NRL betting (or other sports and horse racing for that matter) via the internet is currently deemed to be illegal. However, all of our range of recommended online betting sites offer a friendly, customer-focused solution. All offer a range of live betting markets on their online sites that are being updated in real time.
In order to take advantage of the great live odds available, simply pick up the phone and dial the live betting number indicated on screen.
Don’t forget, you will need to have already signed up to the betting site online first, before placing your phone call to make a live NRL bet.
NRL Fantasy Betting Sites
NRL Fantasy sports betting is one of the latest forms of betting available to Aussie online punters. In particular, the NRL version is one of the most popular sports with the nation’s punters.
For the uninitiated, NRL fantasy sports involves picking a “NRL fantasy team” of players selected from the various teams, whose combined activities in their respective real-life games determine the performance of your fantasy team. Your fantasy team is scored against others in a fantasy league to determine a winning team, eligible for a given prize over the pre-determined length of competition. Some fantasy leagues can take place over an entire season, while Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) are over a sole day, round or week, and can also involve playing against your mates or work colleagues in your own competition if you wish to do so.
Draftstars Australia
Draftstars is Australia’s leading NRL DFS operator and with three different versions of fantasy leagues operating over different time frames (Classic, Head 2 Head and Rapidfire), the choice is yours in how you wish to play.
Check out our impartial Draftstars Review and give your yourself more options to win and show off your expert NRL player knowledge to all your mates.
Becoming an experienced Draftstars DFS player can also assist in becoming a better NRL bettor overall as it helps you to see the matches in a more unemotional and impartial manner. Have fun!

Where is the 2024 NRL Grand Final?
In 2024, the NRL Grand Final is scheduled to be played at Stadium Australia in Sydney on 29th September 2024.
Who will win the NRL Premiership 2024?
In 2023, the Penrith Panthers achieved the rare feat of a premiership three-peat with a stunning comeback victory over the Brisbane Broncos, clinching the title with a final score of 26-24.
As we look ahead to the 2024 season, it is evident that both the Grand Finalists are the top two favourites. But let’s analyse the prospects of each team for the upcoming year.
Penrith Panthers: The Panthers have earned their status as favourites, having achieved the first NRL Premiership three-peat since 1983. While in many sports, a team of this calibre would typically consist of older players or face numerous off-season changes, the Penrith squad stands out as an exception. With the Clive Churchill Medalist Nathan Cleary at just 25 years old and a roster brimming with youthful talent, it appears that this Penrith team is poised for continued dominance over the next few years.
Despite a closely contested Grand Final, the odds for the Panthers are relatively short. This is noteworthy considering Penrith ranked first in both points scored and points allowed last season. They are simply the team to beat and a 4th straight GF victory will be their motivation.
Brisbane Broncos: The next year's premiership odds have the premiership runners-up in close contention and there's a solid rationale behind it. The Broncos ranked second in both points per game and defence in 2023. They came remarkably close to winning the Grand Final, having secured a commanding lead but falling short in the end.
Similar to the Panthers, the Brisbane squad boasts a majority of its players reaching their prime, including the superstar Reece Walsh, who appears to have even more potential to tap into. With a diverse scoring arsenal and a formidable home advantage at Suncorp Stadium, the Broncos are poised to be top contenders once again in the upcoming season.
South Sydney Rabbitohs: Although the Rabbitohs didn't make the finals last season, they still have a strong team that has caught the attention of markets as potential flag contenders. However, there are concerns regarding their depth and defensive strategy.
Latrell Mitchell and Alex Johnson serve as excellent leaders for the Bunnies, but the team requires more players to achieve a higher level of consistency before I would consider betting on them as flag contenders for next year. I’m also not sure how the Las Vegas trip will impact some teams.
Sydney Roosters: The Roosters concluded the season with a strong performance, securing a spot in the 2023 finals. However, they remained inconsistent on the offensive front. But with the addition of Dom Young on the wing, that could improve quickly.
This Roosters team always possesses a solid defensive foundation and boasts star power, making a strong case for a push into the top four in 2024. Nevertheless, their overreliance on James Tedesco and their struggles on the road with a 5-7 record could present challenges in their quest to go all the way.
Melbourne Storm: The Storm simply epitomise consistency, having reached the Grand Final or claimed the minor premiership in four of the last six years.
Under the guidance of the highly regarded coach Craig Bellamy, who is widely considered one of the best of all time, the Storm consistently field a well-structured team, keeping them in contention year after year.
The key factor will be the fitness of Ryan Papenhuyzen as he’s struggled to stay on the park in the last few years. If he can remain injury-free, they have enough star power to potentially go all the way in the upcoming year. Especially with a strong spine in Munster, Hughes and Grant.
NRL PREMIERSHIP ODDS 2024
(Odds 08/03 Subject to change)
Team | PlayUp| | Bet365| |
Penrith Panthers | $3.75 | $3.75 |
Brisbane Broncos | $4.50 | $4.50 |
South Sydney Rabbitohs | $9.00 | $9.50 |
Sydney Roosters | $9.00 | $10.00 |
Melbourne Storm | $13.00 | $11.00 |
Best Outsider to lift the Premiership Trophy
In my view, the Knights present an enticing option for next year's premiership at excellent value odds. Newcastle closed out the regular season with an impressive streak of nine consecutive wins, demonstrating significant improvement as the year unfolded and displaying remarkable team chemistry.
As the new season approaches, the Knights are poised to be a strong contender, especially with the reigning Dally M Medal winner, Kalyn Ponga, leading the way. He struggled in the early stages of 2023 with concussion issues and that really impacted the Knights early season form. It looks like he’s healthy now so that should help Newcastle perform well in the early stages of 2024.
BEST OUTSIDER NRL PREMIERSHIP ODDS 2024
Newcastle Knights: Playup $26.00 | Bet365 $26.00

How to choose an NRL betting site?
Regardless if you are an NRL betting expert or a Rugby League Betting novice just getting started, it is sometimes difficult to come to grips with knowing which of the NRL betting sites will assist you in developing your own personalised betting style and how to bet on Rugby League in general.
That is precisely where BettingTop10 can assist you. As you can see in the table provided above, we analyse the best sites and betting apps available in Australia today. By comparing and contrasting a set of customer-focused criteria, we come up with Bookmakers Reviews of only the top-quality sites as recommendations for you. Our review ratings are based on the safety, security and integrity of the bookmakers, available odds and range of betting markets, convenient payment options, fluid and intuitive site design and the standard of the overall user experience.
After taking our recommendations into account and you still feel you need some more information before finalising your betting site choices, here is some advice that our own team of betting experts (yes, we’re all avid sports bettors ourselves) use;
1.We recommend signing up to more than one site. To ensure you always receive the best odds for any particular sporting event, ensure that you have always given yourself the best range of odds possibilities.By taking advantage of the options, you’ll become an expert yourself as all sites differ ever so slightly and you’ll learn more as you navigate the different bookmaker options available.
2.Beginners, please take note. Use the tools on offer that are provided by each bookmaker to set yourself daily, weekly and monthly spending limits. Some of the online bookmakers even have tools to limit your per session spending, or if your spending gets seriously out of control, you can even self-exclude yourself. Never bet more than you can afford, and remember to put the rent money aside first before you log-on!
3.Locate the NRL section (usually in the ‘NRL Australia’ or ‘Rugby League Australia’ section) of each online bookie. Examine the betting odds and the variety of different betting markets available on upcoming matches. You may also see betting specials featured for select matches and even futures markets such as NRL betting odds to win the Premiership (we will explain specials and futures later in this NRL betting guide). The chances are good that most of our recommended sites will feature the betting market you are looking for. Compare and contrast the odds for any particular game and see how they differ across each particular site.
For example, looking at the opening match of NRL season in 2021, Bet365 offer $2.35 for the South Sydney Rabbitohs to upset the Storm, while you will receive only $2.32 or $2.22 at PlayUp and Boombet respectively. It might not seem like a lot if you are betting a single dollar, but if you are putting $100 to win on the Rabbits, you will win $13 more at Bet365 then you would do at Boombet under the above scenario.
4.Select betting sites that have the betting specials that you know you and your mates will be competing between yourselves to win. Not all sites will carry specific betting markets like the Clive Churchill Medal Winner, NRL Top 4 and Top 8 markets or even something as specific as the Wally Lewis Medal for the player voted the best in the State of Origin series.
5.Some online NRL betting sites have weekly or monthly blogs on the form, results, injuries updates and tips for the upcoming matches. Should you choose to do so, you can use these handy online bookmaker blogs to complement BettingTop10’s own weekly independent and impartial betting tips, odds and previews to optimise your own online Rugby betting.
