The World No.623 creeps one game closer to debut appearance at The Championships.

Hannah Klugman is no surprise name to the tennis purists out there as she is the current holder of the prestigious Orange Bowl title which is held in Florida. The World No. 623 is also a local to the Wimbledon grounds as she grew up playing in a nearby club.

News Insights

  • Coco Gauff will be the youngest qualifier by just 8 days if Klugman progresses
  • The Wimbledon draw will be made on Friday (GMT time zone)
  • Raducanu also in good preparation after defeating Jessica Pegula in Eastbourne
  • 3 British women remain in the draw for the final round of qualifying.

Klugman faced Linda Fruhvirtova in the second round of qualifying which would prove to be a very difficult match on paper. The Czech player was ranked 376 placed above the Brit, however Klugman used home conditions to her advantage and won 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 showing great mentality to win the third set after a poor second set.

Alycia Parks awaits Klugman in the final round, another tough test - as the American enjoys the British grass court season as it suited to her brutal power brand of tennis. Elsewhere in the draw, Armani Banks & Sonay Kartal also represent Great Britain, they will face Marina Stakusic and Erika Andreeva respectively.

WTA Eastbourne is also underway in the week before Wimbledon as players look to pick up their form before heading to SW19. Emma Raducanu battled from match-point down to Jessica Pegula - this sets up a match against Daria Kasatkina where she will certainly fancy her chances again. Katie Boulter is also performing at the top of her game as she defeated 5th seed Jelena Ostapenko, she will now play Jasmine Paolini who lost to Iga Swiatek in the French Open final not long ago!
