US Open Multi Bet of the Week | How to Get a 5x Return in Round 2
How a US Open multi bet on Sinner, Alcaraz and Draper can net you a 5x return
Jannik Sinner vs Alex Michelsen
Arthur Ashe Stadium, August 30th, 2:00 AEST
Prediction: Total games over 29.5 @ 2.00
Top seed Jannik Sinner takes on up-and-coming American Alex Michelsen in the second round of the US Open on Thursday in New York. The pair played just a few weeks ago and it was a tight clash; we expect it will be the same here at Flushing Meadows.
Michelsen has been in a promising vein of form. Still just 19 years old, the big-hitting teen just made yet another ATP level final, in Winston-Salem over the weekend. The week prior, he came up against Sinner in the round of 32 at the Cincinnati Masters. While Michelsen fell in straight sets, it was a competitive match, ending 6-4, 7-5 in favour of the world No 1.
For Sinner, he has been under the microscope this past week after the announcement of a positive drug test earlier in the year. He managed to move through his opening match without too much issue, dropping one set against home hope Mackenzie McDonald.
Expect something similar here in the second round. Sinner will win, but Michelsen could well take a set, or at least push some of the sets to 7-5. Even if it’s a straight 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 victory to Sinner this bet pays, so there are plenty of avenues to get a return on this wager.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Botic van de Zandsculp
Arthur Ashe Stadium, August 30th, 11:00 AEST (approx)
Prediction: First set under 9.5 games @ 1.40
There were question marks over Carlos Alcaraz when he stepped onto the court to play his round one match against Aussie qualifier Li Tu. The Spaniard hadn’t won a hard-court match since March, and showed some alarming mental signs in a recent loss to Gael Monfils.
However, he dispatched those concerns by racing through the first set against Tu in just eight games. While he did drop the next set, the final two were a dominant display by Alcaraz again, with just four games dropped across the third and fourth sets.
Against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, we predict a similarly fast start. The pair have played five sets in their head-to-head, and none of them have gone beyond 10 games. Alcaraz is simply a poor match up for Van de Zandschulp, with greater power and skill from the baseline.
While we’re not ruling out another mid-match lapse from the third seed, he should start this one well and get through the first set in less than 9.5 games.
Jack Draper vs Facundo Diaz Acosta
Court 5, August 30th, 7:00 AEST (approx)
Prediction: Draper to win under 30.5 games @ 2.00
To conclude our multi bet, we have Britain’s Jack Draper seeing off Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta with relative ease on day four of the US Open.
Draper is on track to have a career-best year, with the 22-year-old finally stringing together some months without injury. He came into the US Open with plenty of recent form under his belt, and put that straight into action in the first round. Up against the dangerous Zhizhen Zhang, Draper conceded just three games, racing past the Chinese player 6-3, 6-0, 4-0 (ret).
Diaz Acosta also had a nice win in the opening round of New York, dispatching Hugo Gaston 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. However, he’s not a great hard-court player, with a record of 3-6 on the surface in 2024 coming into the US Open.
Draper has the weapons to finish this one quickly, and we expect he’ll do exactly that.
