How a US Open multi bet on Djokovic, Rublev and Shelton can net you a 4x return

We love betting on tennis here at BettingTop10 Australia, and if you’re reading this, we’re guessing you do too. That’s why we’ve done our homework to determine which matches are the best to bet on this weekend at the US Open. Read on for three smart, sensible bets that can be combined to generate a juicy four-fold return this weekend!

Novak Djokovic vs Alexei Popyrin

Arthur Ashe Stadium, August 31st, 9:00 AEST

Prediction: Total games over 33.5 @ 1.80

Defending champion Novak Djokovic takes on Australia’s Alexei Popyrin in the third round of the US Open this weekend, and it’s the perfect match to start our multi bet.

Djokovic has had an interesting year, looking shaky for large swaths of it. Recently, he achieved a career-long dream of winning Olympic gold, and has been looking better since.

However, the Serbian is still not without his question marks at the US Open. He’s been typically slow starting, looking lethargic and a bit apathetic at times across his opening two matches. While he will undoubtedly raise his level as things head into the second week, he’s still far from his best.

Up against Popyrin, who is playing close to a top 10 level at the moment, that could be a problem.

The pair have played twice in Grand Slams over the past two years, with the Aussie taking a set off Djokovic in each match and forcing at least one other set to a tiebreak. Since then, Popyrin has only improved, winning his maiden Masters 1000 title earlier this month.

Combining Popyrin’s form, the pair’s history, and Djokovic’s slow start in New York, it’s a very fair assumption that this match will go over 33.5 games.

Andrey Rublev vs Jiri Lehecka

Arthur Ashe Stadium, August 31st, 7:00 AEST (approx)

Prediction: Rublev -1.5 set handicap @ 1.40

Andrey Rublev and Jiri Lehecka share a 2-2 head-to-head, so it may seem strange to be adding a Rublev -1.5 set handicap into our multi. But that’s because Lehecka has not looked himself at the US Open, and is still not 100 percent after returning from injury.

The Czech has had two tough matches so far in New York, edging Marton Fucsovics in four sets and Mitchell Krueger 7-5 in the fifth. Rublev has also had a hairy run, coming back from two sets down against Arthur Rinderknech in his most recent match.

However, we like what we see from Rublev a whole lot more. When his game is firing, he can easily outmatch Lehecka, which is what we expect to see this weekend.

Ben Shelton vs Frances Tiafoe

Arthur Ashe Stadium, August 31st, 6:00 AEST (approx)

Prediction: Shelton -1.5 game handicap @ 1.80

A blockbuster awaits in the third round, with two American stars clashing on Arthur Ashe Stadium for a spot in the round of 16. This was a quarter-final last year, but comes a few rounds earlier in 2024.

While this match is a must watch, we do expect Shelton to prevail. Tiafoe will push him hard and could well take a set or two, but Shelton’s serve should minimise the margin in any lost sets.

We know that Shelton is a big match player, so he will well and truly be up for this clash. The younger American has a strong track record against his compatriot, having beaten Tiafoe in both of their two previous meetings.

Back that to be the case here again.
